HipCamp, Stars, a $10 Tent, and a stranger's back yard - Roan Mountain, TN

My first HipCamp experience was excellent, so I decided to try it again! This time, I set out to Roan Mountain, TN with a truck full of camping gear and a brand new $10 tent I bought off Amazon.

This HipCamp site was a bit different as I had a 100+ acre farm all to myself… and for some odd reason, the host decided to put the campsite REALLY close to his house! I still managed to have a good time and to get the EXO Ranger X7 Drone out for a bit of an aerial view. I didn't even realize I was just a few hundred feet from the Appalachian Trail!

I enjoyed a nice dinner from PEAK REFUEL and almost got in to a fist fight with a deer!

Also, with this camping trip being the night before Father's Day, I took a bit of time to talk about my father, who sadly passed away in 2020 from cancer. He inspired my love for the outdoors and my love for Tennessee. In fact, if it weren't for all his trips here, I'd have never been able to convince my wife to try mountain life!
