Pedal Demo Surfy Industries Surfybear classic reverb tank

This is a recreation of the classic Fender 6G15 reverb unit which was issued originally in 1961 and formed the basis of the 'Surf' sound and was used to create drippy soundscapes reminiscent of a dank cave where a surfer and his girl may have gone to look for 'special shells' on a balmy Californian evening.

Instead of the 3 valves in the original unit to drive the reverb springs and excite those wee ferrite beads into a drip frenzy, Swedish company Surfy Industries have employed a F.E.T. based circuit to re-create almost exactly the original circuit. Even down to the blonde tolex and bulb lamp as in the case of this unit I recently purchased from them via Thomann. Lorenzo at SI was a great help and I thank him for that but this was purchased, as all my stuff is, for full price and I have no association with them.

I just like it!

I am using a 1978 Fender Twin Reverb with the onboard tank switched off and a 1965 Fender Jaguar going straight in for the first part and then a Tonebender style fuzz unit for the second and then turn the reverb up a bit for the third part to get all psych and frenzied.

Love this thing. It sounds better than the reverbs in all my amps actually.
