2022 Martin custom shop 000 style demo

Martin makes some beautiful guitars like the D-45, resplendent in abalone, herringbone and looking like an explosion in a Chinese trinket factory.

These are nice to be honest and sound fantastic but I like the simplicity of the 18 model too.

This guitar is a custom shop 000 body style. No model desgnation on these but it is essentially a 000-18. However, it has a sinker mahogany back and sides which is a special feature. Sinker mahogany is apparently wood which was lost to a river in the 1800's in Belize and fished from the bottom by scuba divers and after removing the discarded shopping trolleys and Buckfast bottles they set about making guitars from it.
Now, this wood was 100 years old at the time it fell off the boat, so that's some very old wood indeed. It certainly looks great. The whole guitar has a stripped down aesthetic typical of the 18 model but this is a special guitar.

I had been playing every time I went into the shop but after I heard that someone else was aware of how good it was, I had to rush in at opening time and buy it.

The other guy apparently came in an hour after I left with it. Heh heh...

I am doing a quick demo with 2 microphones, a Rode NT1-A and a Shure SM57 placed on the upper fretboard and behind the bridge recorded into a Presonus Studio 68C with a small amount of Lexicon 'small studio' reverb added as a plug-in to make the room I'm in sound better.
