A rare case of a Nintendo game NOT being released in Japan! "Why" that is I dunno. Some speculate because of the cultural things. But it wouldn't be difficult to tweak it if they really wanted to. The same with StarTropics II (Zoda's Revenge) actually. But fun facts aside, this game is pretty fun! It uses the Zelda 1 gameplay engine (obviously. XD) but not in a lazy copycat way or something. It's a very different game actually, aside from the file select screen. :P

It's top-down the whole way, but there's NO combat on the overworld and the dungeon areas where there is combat are a whole other ball game. Pun intended. You have a jump button which can be used to dodge and traverse block platforms (1-square spaced max only unless you have a powerup) which leads to a more fixed position combat style of position and shoot/attack. Heck, even when "not" on the block platforms you turn before you walk on purpose so you can aim in multiple directions with greater ease. It may feel clunky at first, but the more you use it, the more sense it makes based on the way the game plays.
