Pokemon Card GB 2 Part 56: Unrealized Potential

Two guys at the Psychic club unlock at some time and I forgot about them. Let's go beat them then!

So Robert and his Phantom deck is up once again as until I edited the (Non-GR) Challenge Cup I didn't realize I didn't cover him before. In editing, I looked for the Phantom Deck to put on the sidebar and I haven't made it. Which meant he wasn't covered, lol! My bad! So his deck is likely named after the idea of things moving around on both sides. Alakazam lv45 can move all it's damage counters to the opponent's active Pokemon. Gengar can bounce your critters back to the deck. Mew can Devolves your stuff to dusrupt combos and potentially KO stuff (keeps the damage counters but lowers HP when devolved after all). But overall, it kind of just doesn't work all that well. I guess?... Kadabra, Alakazam and Mewtwo all have attacks that are pretty reliant on the opponent having Psychic energy attached. So while they could do like 120 damage to them (double damage of 60), chances are you wouldn't have a Psychic critter out against them. You'd use your utility Colorless Pokemon because they work well with Psychics to cover their self-weakness with resistance or secondary (or more, lol) energy type. So even though you unlock his game later in this game, his deck feels very.... early-game like. You know: Nerfed compared to the potential it could have. Pidgeot lv40 (and a bunch of the Pidgey line) for instance could be a nice compliment critter to the strategy with Hurricane to bounce things back, as could Energy Removal as that too would fit the theme of disappearance.

Then Daniel is up next with his Puppeteer deck which uses the Hypno-Clefairy Doll combo to attack safely without repercussions. Well... if he used it right, lol! He never seemed to use Clefairy Doll to utilize it's capabilities with Hypno. If he did however, he could bring it back with Itemfinder, as well as use defender to keep it around against cards that do 20 damage or less. So he can nip off 30 turn by turn as long as he has the dolls. "Can" is the key word here as it never happened. Not to mention he totally misused Hypno's attack in that it could hit anything for 30. Including my Rattata. The AI Hiccup was so hilariously bad I ended up experimenting with it! XD Anyway... Slowpoke is there to recycle Clefairy Doll as well. Slowbro can also do some disrupting things either my sneaking damage counters to itself on the bench to benefit the active Pokemon (complimenting Mr. Mine's invisible wall) and causing paralysis. But largely the Slowpoke is what he's using the line for. Slowpoke can't attack in on itself though. It can just heal itself and bring trainer cards back to the hand.

Also, there is a Bug in the URL. ;)
