Don’t Be Afraid to Live

An artist has more power than a politician.

Ida Kelarová is a person who connects seemingly unconnected worlds. It shows how a person can find the right path not only to himself, to art, but above all to people. To live without prejudices and without established dogmas.

She herself is an example of a person who is not limited by anything or anyone. It teaches children not only singing but above all humanity. The values it helps to develop in them. Sensitivity and openness.

"For me, art is a way to change this world, and an artist has a responsibility not to be someone else's performer, but to be there for himself. It's not about ego.

Since I was little, I had chosen two paths, and the Roma one directed me to freedom. I am grateful to the Roma for that. My father, who was Roma, introduced me to music and passed on his love for it. When he died, I felt the need to sing it. This gave me a lot of strength and helped me walk my own path that led me to Roma children. I show them the way, prepare them for integration, and teach them to cross their own boundaries. Roma have nothing to be ashamed of.

Founded the Čhavorenge choir. We sing and perform at concerts throughout the year. These children are role models for others and motivate them. In a huge way, we are helped by the Czech Philharmonic, which accompanies us. I enjoy connecting these two worlds. You can feel freedom and love during work. When you lead children well, they will show what is in them. What they feel is important to me.

It's beautiful when a person opens up. An open person has something to give. He expresses himself truthfully, and even those who do not believe in goodness change. Fear must not stop us. Let's open up and not be afraid to live."
