Raging Party at Mardi Gras 2022, New Orleans, Louisiana - Crazy Mess!

Hello!

This video was recorded 3/2022.

We hadn't aimed for this, but we found ourselves near New Orleans, the home of Mardi Gras at just the right time to join in the massive party that happens. The past two years got skipped due to covid, so everyone had extra pent up "party animal" that needed to be unleashed!

We motorcycled over to New Orleans the day before Fat Tuesday, the day before the end of Mardi Gras; Lundi Gras. We Found some fun stuff like parades and floats, and everyone getting the party started as the sun went down. We stayed out for a bit, but ended up going home relatively early.

The next day, we took our truck so Katrina could drive my drunk butt home that night, and hit the road headed for a good time. When we got to the city, we found the most epic crowd of peeps; some showing off their motorcycles and cool cars, others day drinking and cooking lunch on the BBQ. People literally brought their whole cooking situation out to the side of the road so they could have a tailgate cookout while watching the floats and people being wild. Some people had their own massive sound systems too, often too loud to even walk by without hurting our ears. This place was awesome! Everyone living their best life for sure.

We got as close as we could to the floats; beads and other novelty trash flying everywhere we looked. After the last float in the area went by, we walked down the middle of the road, in total awe of the sheer volume of garbage crunching under our feet as we moved. A small child walking with his parents picked up a noise maker and blew it; this did not last long as mom had zero chill left for unnecessary noise, and yelled at him as she swatted it from his hand. Mom did have a good point...
We both looked at all this with a moderate feeling of sadness at the level of wasted plastic, but clearly we did not come here to bring our earth-loving, bottle reusing, hippie values to the party people of Mardi Gras.

We continued walking for a bit, but I finally got fed up with the lack of a drink in my hand, so first got a daiquiri to go (they allows public drinking here) and off we went. Katrina got annoyed because I now had a drink so we were not able to go in any restaurants to get food until I finished. Sorry babe! I found this drink to be all but undrinkable due to how sweet it was, so we found a corner store and I got a large flask of Bacardi rum and took that outside the store, and poured myself a much stronger cocktail by adding it to my slushy. That'll fix all my problems! Haha

After spending most of the rest of the day out wandering the streets together, we finally got way too hungry and stopped for some Gyros and to finally sit a bit while we people watched. The owner of this place paid a homeless man with food to open the door for customers. Definitely a cool way to help the homeless. :)

Katrina was so, so excited to get this particular kinda of pastry that New Orleans is known for. We made a pretty epic effort trying to find some, talking to locals, googling, etc. We finally found a place, but it ended up being closed! Poor Katrina.

We found another seafood restaurant to get a late night dinner of fish and oysters, and a few cocktails.

We put our earplugs back in (we had been wearing these much of the day) and went back to the center of chaos, as that was what I was mainly there for. Tons of people blasting stereos, revving engines, squealing tires, drinking and being about as wild as one could hope to see.

After every last scrap of our inner party animal was satisfied, we headed back to our truck. We were happy to find nobody had caused any damage; we climbed in and Katrina got some practice driving us home through the remaining chaos.

Hope ya'll enjoy!
