“Bible Bill” Aberhart, Ernest Manning, and Christian Influence in Alberta Politics - Michael Wagner

During the decades of the mid twentieth century, conservative Christians played a large role in Alberta politics. In fact, Alberta had premiers who were outspoken evangelical Christians. There were two premiers from 1935 to 1968, and both of them were radio evangelists at the same time as they were premiers: William “Bible Bill” Aberhart and Ernest Manning.
