Hope for our Land
1st in our series the Prophet Zephaniah

I. The Family of Zephaniah - Zephaniah 1:1
A. The Word of the Lord
1. The Creator chooses to communicate
2. Jesus is the final communiqué - Hebrews 1:1-2
B. Why genealogies
1. God ordained family government is exceedingly important in God’s economy
2. Zephaniah was of royal lineage, his great, great grandfather was king Hezekiah
a. One of the most godly kings of Judah - 2 Kings 18:3-7
b. But his son Manasseh who next took the throne was the wickedest king - 2 Kings 21:2-7
c. Zephaniah’s great grandfather was not king

II. The Times of the Prophet Zephaniah, the Days of Josiah
A. Amon, Josiah’s father, was a very wicked king like his father Manasseh - 2 Kings 21:19-23
1. Justice was served on the murderers - 2 Kings 21:24
2. Josiah ascends the throne at 8 years of age - 22:1-2

b. God can work a great repentance, revival and reformation through anyone He chooses
