2nd In our series the Epistle of Paul to the Ephesians

I. Contending Earnestly for the Faith Once for All Delivered - Jude 3
* A. Approximately 1/2 the New Testament was through the divinely inspired author the Apostle Paul
* 1. Peter attests to Paul’s Epistles as divinely inspired - 2 Peter 1:20-21 & 3:15-16
* 2. Jesus attests to Paul’s Epistles - Acts 26:16-18
* B. Warning to those who delete anything from God’s Word - Revelation 22:18-19

II. The Divine Authorization of Paul - Ephesians 1:1
* A. An Apostle is “one who is sent out” divinely authorized, “by the will of God” - Three N.T. usages:
* 1. The Twelve whom Jesus chose (including Matthias)
* 2. The Apostle the the Gentiles - Romans 11:13
* 3. Generically, apostles as all believers sent out - Matthew 28:18-20 
* B. The danger of false apostles - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15
* 1. How we should regard false apostles - Galatians 1:8
* 2. Guard your heart and mind from false teaching

III. The Commission of the Believer, “Saint” - Ephesians 1:1
* A. The word “saint” means “consecrated to God, holy, sacred, pious, a people set apart for the Lord and His kingdom”
* 1. The character of the saints - Ephesians 5:2-3
* 2. Sanctified, called to be holy - 1 Corinthians 1:2
* a. All our sins forgiven and purged away
* b. Yet we still stumble and fall - 1 John 1:10
* c. We respond in repentance, confession and forsaking sin - 1 John 1:9
* B. What we are in position saints, we strive to become what we are in action - 1 John 3:2-3
