Sweden: US Army and 40 Nato Allied Countries Begin Ordering recoilless Carl-Gustaf M4 From SAAB.

Saab Awarded Contract from US Army for Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle.
The US Army's MAAWS Program Office has awarded Saab a contract for the Carl-Gustaf M4 recoilless rifle. The Carl-Gustaf rifle is also known as the Multi-purpose Anti Armor Anti personnel Weapon System and M3A1 in the US Army. The order will cover arms deliveries for the US Army and Marine Corps. The contract has a total value of USD 16 million and is awarded under the current ID/IQ agreement.

Saab will provide Carl-Gustaf recoilless rifles to continue to support ongoing airdrop efforts in both the Army and Marine Corps.

At Saab, we always try to support Infantry with lightweight solutions that make their job easier. This command will make Soldiers and Marines more agile thanks to their lighter weight and increased capabilities over previous versions currently in operational use. Additionally, this order will enhance interoperability across services, alliances and partnerships, with so many already using the Carl Gustaf M4, said Erik Smith, President and CEO of Saab in the US.

Built to meet the needs of the future, it is compatible with advanced fire control devices and prepared for special munitions, putting advanced technology at the fingertips of troops. A wide range of ammunition provides extreme tactical flexibility ready for any combat situation, providing faster engagement, increased hit probability and greater effectiveness.

Carl Gustaf's small arms system, now in its fourth generation. It is used in more than 40 different countries, including many NATO allies.
