Here's the Swedish fighter jet that once shocked the world SAAB Draken

The aircraft fortunately never saw combat service, but the type would no doubt prove successful if it did. Eventually, Draken will be succeeded by his successor from Saab, Viggen.

After retiring from service in Sweden in late 1999, the Drakens would continue to fly for several more years in Austria and Denmark, before retiring the last of the breed in Austria in 2005.

The Draken has become a very popular and iconic aircraft in the world of aviation thanks to its delta wing design. And thus, a large number of these types are on display all over the world. There were also two airworthiness flights with the Swedish Air Force Historic Aviation, as well as a pair of Dakens that flew out of McClellan Air Park in California in the United States.

The Draken will effectively launch the Swedish Air Force's highly successful fighter jet. The Viggen would be introduced into Swedish service in June 1971, while it would in turn be replaced by the JAS 39 Gripen, an aircraft still in service today.

The Gripen was first introduced into active service in June 1996 and has been exported to several air forces around the world including the Czech Air Force and the Brazilian Air Force. Despite losing the car brand, Saab is still going strong today in the aviation world.
