Swedish defense group Saab is betting on increased sales from the country's rapidly changing stance on joining the NATO military alliance.

Unthinkable just a few months ago, Swedish lawmakers are now intensively discussing potential applications to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as public support for such a move reaches new heights this month. For Saab, "it's hard to see anything negative from an industry perspective," CEO Micael Johansson said in a phone interview after reporting first-quarter results.
