Birth of the JAS 39 gripen edesign concept which became the best fighter jet on the planet

Calling the JAS 39 #Gripen fighter jet for the Swedes is like scratching gold ink in the military world of the Scandinavian country. The JAS 39 Gripen is Sweden's largest industrial project in history. In May 2016, Saab, Svenska Aeroplan Aktie Bolag (#Swedish Airplane Corporation) a Swedish defense systems manufacturer and manufacturer of the #JAS39Gripen released the latest version of the Gripen, the JAS 39 Gripen NG. This new product makes the JAS 39 Gripen a modern multi-function fighter aircraft at a competitive price in the international market.

In 1978, the Swedish Air Force was in need of a new multi-role fighter to be put into service at the turn of the 20th century. The Swedish Air Force has also reviewed existing fighter aircraft from other countries, namely the F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-18 Super Hornet. After an evaluation process, the Swedish Parliament decided in June 1982 to carry out the JAS 39 Gripen development project, until the final test was completed in December 1996.

The Swedish Air Force ordered the manufacture of 204 aircraft which were divided into 3 stages. 30 aircraft have been completed in the first phase. Meanwhile, the second stage of delivery is in progress, consisting of 94 units of the one-crew variant and 14 units of the two-crew variant. Then in June 1997, the third phase consisting of 64 units of the JAS 39 Gripen was approved by the Swedish government.
