Knowing that our country cannot be saved by our own works and mindful of how much our nation has departed from the ways of thy Son, we humbly ask that thou wouldst turn thine eyes upon our country to bring about its conversion. We consecrate to thee the integrity of the upcoming election and its outcome, so that what is spiritually and morally best for the citizens of our country may be accomplished, and that all of those who are elected would govern according to the spiritual and moral principles which will bring our nation into conformity with the teachings of thy Son. Give grace to the citizens of this land so that they will choose leaders according to the Sacred Heart of thy Son, that His glory may be made manifest, lest we be given the leaders we deserve. Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” These are the people he surrounded himself with because all of us are born with Original Sin. Only Jesus and His Mother were without Original Sin. Jesus healed His mother prior to her birth so that she could be the vessel to bear Him. The rest of us, we are all sinners in need of a physician who can heal our being - body, mind, and soul. We need Jesus and so we find ourselves inside the doors of the church but lest we become like the self-righteous, we must never forget all humanity is on a journey at different stages finding their way to God's mercy and the Divine Healer. We begin looking at St. Ephraim who set church teaching to melodies to counter the heresies being spread in his time in the same manner. Today the Catholic Docs continue the series on Marriage in Episode 2 of the 9 part series. We take a look at contractual unions versus covenantal unions and how they are very different. We also discuss why the Catholic Church has such a strong teaching on Marriage. Marriage is modeled after the blessed Trinity and the Love of Our Blessed Lord (the Bridegroom) for His Bride (the Church), which is ever giving and renewing through dying to self for love of God. The covenant between Man and Woman is the closest we will ever get to knowing the love of God as the two unite in Marriage for life and bring forth life in a new being created in their likeness. Unlike the mentality in today's culture which knows not the enormous fruit of a healthy, happy, strong and holy marriage, too many forgo "until death do us part" for the short term whimsical and frivolous emotional rise without any real dividends in the end... this mentality leads to a fruitless and sad life. The contract of civil marriage is nothing more than an agreement to meet certain terms and when they are no longer met by one or the other, either one can break the contract leaving a family devastated and scarred for generations. Christians have also jumped on this bandwagon not heeding the voice of Jesus nor the truth of wisdom and they too jump ship when the going gets rough. The covenantal bond of marriage, sealed by the Holy Spirit, conferred by one man and one woman to each other and witnessed by the church is an indissoluble bond and should not be entered into without excellent preparation - for "What God has joined let no man put asunder." While recently giving a retreat for engaged couples, we realized there is so much to cover with regards to our human nature and how God created us for Marriage. We are not meant to be alone and as Catholic's, we either marry or we are called to the priesthood or religious life but always in community. Marriage is such a community beginning with husband and wife and when their love is sacrificial, they grow spiritually, emotionally, and if God is willing, into a unique human being - a new family of love emerges which can be likened to the Blessed Trinity - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Love so pure, so true, and so complete that a new life comes forth, but it is not always an easy path when hardships hit. In this episode we will talk about how these hardships unfolded and how our perspective is key to enduring certain hardships. Whatever we are faced with, we cannot endure without God's Grace and there is only one way to obtain His Grace - through the Sacraments. Today on the Catholic Docs we discuss the final topic in the Last Four Things, Hell. Contrary to what some prelates and religions teach, the Truth is NOT subjective and there is indeed a Hell where many souls will perish if humanity does not begin to choose God with every thought, word, and deed. No amount of excuse or rewriting of "your" personal truth will save you from that final judgement if you negate the Way shown by Jesus. The choice is your through your Free Will and what you freely choose will either lead you to God or away from God. That's it, there is no gray and no in-between.

Taking a break from "The Last Four Things" today we take you through an examination of Conscience to prepare well to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Lent allows us many opportunities to take advantage of this beautiful Sacrament especially if you have not been practicing your faith or you have not gone in some time. Remember, the Church requires all baptized and fully initiated Catholics to receive Communion at least once-per-year during the Easter Season and to do so worthily - PLEASE go to confession first.

Today we begin a 4-part series on the Last Four Things as a preparation for Lent. In this first segment, we discuss death and what our final destination will be knowing it is our choice. Death causes people to fear the end of life but avoiding it leaves many unprepared for our eternal destination. If we want to end up in Heaven as our final destination, as St. Thomas said, "will it." How does one "will it" or will heaven as their eternal destination? By directing every thought, word, and deed to align with God's will - do not sin and if you do, frequent Confession as often as you can. By the way, the balloon in the example is filled with Helium :-) PRAYER: Almighty, and everlasting God, Who hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son to be the Redeemer of the world, and hast been pleased to be reconciled unto us by His Blood, grant us, we beseech Thee, so to venerate with solemn worship the price of our salvation, that the power thereof may here on earth keep us from all things hurtful, and the fruit of the same may gladden us for ever hereafter in heaven.
