Adventures with Elephants near Bela Bela 2.5 hours from Mabula Lodge
We visited adventures with elephants to learn more about these amazing animals. After a very informative talk about the conservation status of elephants in Africa we were thrilled to be able to feed them. Then we walked with the elephants as they went to go look for some delicious trees and bark to eat.

The Gorgeous Goddess Cafe
My special friend from highschool and I went adventuring to the Goddess Cafe in Waterkloof Pretoria in search of lunch, coffee and some girl chat time. The whimsical decor is an experience on its own! We were postively enchanted by the creatively named and bejeweled food and drinks that come in all shades of pinks and purples. Next time we will have to try the decadent cakes.

A Need for Speed, Spots and Wild Dogs. Cheetah conservation
We visited the Ann Van Dyke cheetah center to see the thrilling high speed cheetah chase. Wow how impressive! We also had a tour on the property of all the ambassador cheetahs, blue crane, serval, caracal, hyeana, wilddogs, vultures and even meercats. The zebra and gnu also came to say hello as well as nyala antelope. The most unexpected part was seeing how a wild dog hunt would take place and also seeing cheetahs so close to the safari vehicle. The Ann Van Dyke centre has released close to 200 cheetahs back into the wild as well as several wild dogs. They are now embarking on an endangered vulture breeding program. My favourite part was learning so much about a cheetah's body that makes them able to cope with high speed, fast brakes and intense heat from exertion.

Inside the famous Kruger National Park
We went on a 3 night safari to the Kruger National Park. We stayed at Skukuza rest camp and Satara rest camp in the park. We ate at the restaurant at the rest camp and also cooked our own food at the bungalow. We saw huge herds of elephants, antelopes, unusual reptiles, colourful birds and were lucky to spot lion and leopard. We also stopped at the Tshokwane picnic site and the Timbavati picnic site where 2 leopards crossed the river bank below us and went to rest under a tree.
