This video brings it all together. This project turned out to be more work than I had anticipated and I’m glad it is ‘done’. I still have a few minor issues to take care of, but for better or worse, here it is. I hope you will follow along and like the video!

KFF Induction Motor Beautification
I need an electric motor for use in an upcoming project. This one was cheap on eBay so I decided to roll the dice and bought it. It needs to be tested and glamourized though – I won’t tolerate an ugly motor in my garage!

Portable Emergency Power Backup Unit
I built this battery backup unit from recycled and unused parts I had sitting around. I use this during power outages and to provide backup for my amateur radio station. It also works fine for cranking the starter on a gasoline powered generator. You can power a small inverter also for low powered AC appliances.

Mystery Hand Saw Rescue and Restoration
I have never seen a saw quite like this. Please let me know in the comments if you know what it is or have seen one before. It was in really rough shape and I decided to try to save it. The odd looking little metal piece shown at 5:40 was embedded in the handle slot. I figured someone had put it there to help stabilize the blade. I just removed it and replaced it with the steel insert shown in the video.

Dremel Moto-Shop 571-5 Scroll Saw Rescue
I found this Dremel Moto-Shop571-5 in a secondhand store for $10. It looked fairly complete but had no accessories with it. I don’t care about the accessories because I just wanted the scroll saw to function. Here is how I cleaned it up and put it back into service. I could not find much information about how to disassemble and reassemble these things, so I just had to make up as I went. Maybe this will help someone else – the reassembly can be a bit tricky.
