Sculpting Meeko for My Backyard
In this video, I am sculpting Meeko from Pocahontas for a tree in my backyard. I carved the initial base from eps foam. The exterior coat is an exterior paper mâché clay. It's made using cement, toilet paper, and glue-all. I found the recipe from 'Ultimate Paper Mache.' It's fantastic! Even if a section is dry and you add more on later, the newly applied clay doesn't crack or shrink from the previous layer. I'm going to use it to make more sculptures in the future. Far more affordable for a medium.

I started by carving the figure in foam with a variety of tools. Ultracal plaster was used to create a durable surface coating. Milliput epoxy clay was used to add the details of the face, hands, extra folds in fabric, etc. The surface was painted with exterior paints, followed by airbrushing on highlights and shadows. The whole statue was coated with a uv resistant clear coat.

My Dad bought these tiny Disney Figures from eBay and wanted me to paint them for him. I painted them in the style of their 1930s designs with Testors paints. The music in this video is 'The Blue Danube' by Strauss which always reminds me of Abbott and Costello in 'Hold That Ghost.' Does it remind you of a particular movie?
