Wild Faces of Switzerland
Marmots work hard all summer to feed incessantly and lay down enough fat reserves to pass the cold season in hibernation. But this is not to be confused with a refreshing night’s sleep: far from it. This is more like a life-threatening emergency state. Scientists have found out that marmots repeatedly need to come round from their hibernation and have a proper sleep if they are to survive the hostile winter at all.
Ibex, too, have surprising ways of getting through winter. Even though they live in the high mountains year-round, they don’t appear to like snow at all and prefer to avoid it at all cost. In the cold of the winter nights, their body temperature decreases to save energy – their legs now only measure a meagre 15 degrees. While this would mean certain death from exposure for other animals, it allows the ibex to manage its energy requirements and survive here.
These and other astonishing winter-stories lie at the heart of this film, illustrated with stunning and captivating images that bring the impressive wildlife and spectacular scenery to life. Breath-taking aerials give us a bird’s-eye view of remarkable landscapes while amazing locations even take us on excursions below the ice.
But even the toughest winter is over at some point and gives respite to fauna and flora. This is when chamois seem to express their joy at the return of spring with wild leaps and bounds. Marmots, on the other hand, have no time for such extravagance: their summer is so short, that the males waste no time and sometimes even mate with females that haven’t come round from their hibernation yet. For them, spring and summer are nothing more than a chance to prepare for their next fight for survival in the tough winter months of Grisons.

Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve is an American national park that protects portions of the Brooks Range in northern Alaska. The park is the northernmost national park in the United States, situated entirely north of the Arctic Circle. The park is the second largest in the US, slightly larger in area than Belgium. Gates of the Arctic was initially designated as a national monument on December 1, 1978, before being redesignated as a national park and preserve upon passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980.
A large part of the park has additional protection as the Gates of the Arctic Wilderness that adjoins the Noatak Wilderness. They form the largest contiguous wilderness in the United States together.
Fauna include brown bears, black bears, muskoxen, moose, Dall sheep, timber wolves, wolverines, coyotes, lynxes, marmots, porcupines, river otters, red and Arctic fox species, beavers, snowshoe hares, muskrats, bald eagles, golden eagles, peregrine falcons, ospreys, great horned and northern hawk-owls. More than half a million caribou, including the Central Arctic, Western Arctic, Teshekpuk, and Porcupine herds, migrate through the central Brooks Range twice yearly, traveling north in summer, and south in winter. Caribou are important as a food source to native peoples. The park is the northernmost range limit for the Dall sheep. About 132 brown bears reside in the park and preserve, based on a density of about one bear per 100 square miles

Springtime Stories - Go Wild
Spring is a time of new beginnings and new life. The world is bursting with joie de vivre, and the sheer force of nature is never more tangible than during this season. Birds chirp at the top of their lungs, insects buzz through the air and blossoms magically touch the landscape with colour. Creatures of all kinds – starlings, squirrels and frogs – begin to have their young.
In forests, fields, meadows and gardens, nature awakens from her winter sleep: buds swell, fresh green leaves begin to sprout, tender plants spring up out of the ground. The world takes on colour again. The still, barren wintertime is past, and spring is a gaily-hued fanfare – high-spirited and full of zest.
The magic of spring in all its glory is the focus of this film. Unusual animal stories – some humorous, some dramatic – create a very special springtime feel. Upbeat, amusing and exciting, the film illustrates vividly that spring in Germany is the loveliest season of all.

Wild River Rhine | Nature Documentary
Watch 'Wild Germany: The Mecklenburg Lake Plateau' here:
• Wild Germany: The Meck...
There is hardly any other river in Germany that is surrounded by as many myths and legends as the river Rhine. No other river has been the topic of songs, has been painted and travelled equally frequently.
Despite this it still seems to be true today what the French poet Victor Hugo once said about this river – the Rhine is a river everybody talks about, nobody explores, everybody visits but no one really knows. It is the second longest river in Central and Western Europe after the Danube. Medieval castles, important industrial sites and lush vineyards - this is what river Rhine is famous for.
This river however is much more than what man had made it. Even though man has settled next to the river and the stream has been used as means of transportation for thousands of years, it's banks still host a stunning variety of wildlife habitats. Alluvial forests, roaring waterfalls, steep canyons and sunny slopes flank the river along its some 1230km. The variety of habitats is the reason for the large biodiversity along the stream.
The film follows the water against the stream. Starting at its delta in the Netherlands it runs through six countries until its place of origin in the Swiss Alps. This film about the Rhine is unique because of its focus on the Fauna and Flora that exists alongside the stream. Beavers and Seals, Capricorns and Lizards, Wild boar and White-throated dipper are among the animal stars of this film.

12.Injured Cheetah When Choosing Wrong Opponent, Can It Survive?Wild Animals
......
Great mother and great hunter, that's what they say about Cheetahs, and this is also the man who made the African savannah more chaotic than ever.
Despite their quick plumage and peak hunting, there are times when these predators encounter undesirable wounds.
Is she surviving and raising her children well after all these painful wounds? Let's take a look at this.
Southern Africa is home to thousands of cheetahs.
This fertile land is not only a paradise of cheetahs but also a home to countless other animals.
Cheetahs prefer to live in open environments such as semi-desert steppes and virtually any other word that has appropriate prey has its footprints.
With their long strides and hunting skills, many prey animals become fearful when confronted by Cheetahs.
The cheetah's speed and agility allow it to catch prey like gazelles, impalas, and other smaller antelope
The hunt only ends when the prey is subdued under the tusks of the Cheetahs.
For cheetahs, such hunts are not only for foraging but also for survival lessons for their offspring.
To survive in this wild environment requires them to become proficient in hunting skills, such as their mothers.
When it comes to a mother's sacrifice and her best instincts, just look at the cheetah and we'll know
In order to ensure that their prey is not at risk from the predators, they would hide them in the bush after which they would go on hunting.
Once the cubs are old enough to venture out, the mother cheetah will take them with her on hunts, teaching them how to hunt and providing them with food.
She will also groom and play with her cubs, helping them to develop social skills and build strong bonds with each other.
Cheetahs are the best single mothers in the wild.
Despite the challenges of raising a litter of cubs on her own, the mother cheetah is fiercely dedicated to her offspring.
She will defend them against any threat, even at the risk of her own life.

Magical Moors - A Mysterious World Full of Life | Wildlife Documentary
Watch 'Wild Germany: The Mecklenburg Lake Plateau' here:
• Wild Germany: The Meck...
Eerie and menacing, yet hauntingly beautiful and highly evocative. The rugged Moor landscape has long fuelled our imagination, inspiring artists and poets, evoking images both terrifying and deeply romantic. It’s a land of contrasts. Wide open heaths, windswept and barren in winter, are transformed into wonderful carpets of white, fluffy cotton grass in summer. Large bears and wolves roam alongside delicately fluttering butterflies, the bubbling calls of black grouse and the enchanting trills of the great snipe.
Moors, bogs and wetlands can be found all over in Europe. Everyone has at least heard about this habitat but most know little about it. Only 1% of the Middle European wetlands are still untouched. A gigantic amount of carbohydrate is stored inside these wetlands. But knowing about this fact does not stop their destruction. Climate change and global warming are on everyone’s mind – stopping the destruction of moors and wetlands would be one great step towards the reduction of greenhouse gases.
This film shows the beauty and the magic inside the moors and its message is clear :”Save and protect our last moors and wetlands”

With a north-south expansion of more than 7500 kilometres, the chain of the Andes is the biggest mountain range in the world. Peaks of up to 7000 metres in height, do not only offer an imposing view, but also influence the climate highly by being the drainage and meteorological divide all the same. The land in the spheres of the Andes is full of contrasts, a land of fire and ice, of coldness and heat. In the wet and stormy patagonian South, jagged massifs and glaciers prevail, while volcanos, hot springs, geysers and salt lakes dominate the scenery on the dry highland. On the western side of the range, air enriched with moisture provides for lush, lichen-covered enchanted forests, while the eastern side only receives 10 % of the precipitation which supports only semi-arid areas. Starting in Tierra del Fuego in the very South of the American continent, we travel along the Andes towards the North and climb to heights of more than 5000 metres on the bolivian/peruvian Altiplano. Onward, we follow the course of the water downhill to the east and arrive in the Pantanal, the biggest wetland in the world. The waterfalls of the Rio Iguazu, which is a tributary to the huge Rio Parana, which again drains in the Atlantic Ocean at Buenos Aires, represent the awesome grand finale. Extraordinary nature and animal stories – sometimes imposing and fascinating, sometimes funny or exciting – describe in a very touching way creation and fading and life and death in the spheres of the Andes

Banding Together to Survive - OUT OF THE CRADLE [人類誕生CG] / NHK Documentary
Australopithecus afarensis was the first hominin to leave the safety of the trees for life in the grasslands. Slow on foot, they struggled to survive on the African continent 3.7 million years ago.
In the series "Out of the Cradle," NHK tracks the evolutionary journey of prehistoric primates over the course of 7 million years as they grew into the dominant species on Earth. This uses CGI technology from the world’s foremost video game creators to tell the story of human ancestors with extraordinarily lifelike visuals.
