Prophets Speak to Us - Hosea
Hosea decried the hypocritical religious form that claimed to serve the God of Israel, but was in reality just sugar-coated idolatry. Their worship called evil/good and good/evil and encouraged the fertility rites and sacred prostitution common in pagan societies. As a result of these two great evils, political corruption and religious deception the people had become hardened by the evil around them. Hosea warned the people that there would be consequences — cause and effect for rejecting reality.

The Prophets Speak to Us - Amos
Amos Speaks Truth to Power
Amos, the prophet, understood that the Lord God loved his people, even though they had rebelled time after time. So God had commissioned Amos, a farmer, to take a message to the leaders of the Northern Ten Tribes of Israel in Samaria. The Lord was giving them both a warning, and a message of hope. Amos knew that the Lord had chosen Israel to bring the light of truth and hope to the world. But they could not do that task unless they were willing to walk in agreement with God. So Amos, was tasked with speaking God’s truth to the powerful leaders of the day, who had forgotten God.

The Prophets — Moses Speaks to Us
Disciples of Moses?
The Pharisees of Jesus’ day thought of themselves as disciples of Moses. They thought they knew Moses’ message, but they were wrong.
Jesus consistently exposed the Pharisees’ hypocrisy. For though they made a great show of fastidiously tithing on thyme leaves, an insignificant matter, in reality they were cheats and cons. They had avoided the fly in their meal, but had proverbially “swallowed the camel.” The politically correct crowd of the time claimed Moses’ message as their own, but the truth was quite the opposite. They lacked the justice, mercy, or faith that Moses had taught. None of these hypocritical people kept the law, the teachings God delivered through Moses. In fact, they were plotting to kill Jesus, the one who was trying to correct their lack of understanding. Jesus had not come to destroy the law or the prophets, but to make the full intent of these writings known. The people would reap what they were sowing, just as Moses prophesied. The apostle Paul encountered similar self-righteous attitudes when confronting the Jewish religious leadership that challenged his ministry to the Gentiles. Are we or our modern religious leaders guilty of holding similar attitudes towards God’s law?Join our live stream for those who love and live the biblical scriptures.

The Prophets Speak to Us
Jesus Affirms the Role of the Prophet
Jesus told his followers that they should not misunderstand his intentions. He did not come to abolish the law or the prophets. Rather, Jesus understood the important role of the prophet in ensuring that God’s purpose would be achieved. This is an inconvenient truth for many who are teaching and governing in harmony with the politically correct notions of our time. Like their ancient predecessors, today’s hypocritical leaders want to look good, but in reality they are pretentious evil-doers from Jesus’ perspective. Jesus castigated the ‘virtue signalling’ frauds of his day by calling them the sons of those who murdered the prophets. But why did their ancestors murder the prophets? And why were the Pharisees willing to murder Jesus, the prophet?

A Time to Speak
A Time to Speak
Walking With God comes with a Responsibility
God’s wisdom tells us that there is a time for everything, a season for silence and a time to speak
As those called by God’s mercy into a relationship with him, we begin a new life of walking with God. We are to live by every word of God. Like the ancient nation of Israel, God advises all who believe in him to choose life — obeying his teachings, and loving his ways. And as parents and grandparents, one of those commands is to speak with our children about our walk with God.
There will be those who may be offended when the truth is spoken, but that should not keep us from speaking up when the time is right. When it is a time to speak, are we making the most of our opportunity?

Prepared to Give an Answer
Be Careful What You Say
Christ, the Lord of our lives, wants us to be prepared to give an answer to others. The Lord is our shelter and sanctuary. When men ask us questions about our faith, we are to respond as if we were in God’s presence. For, we will have to give account to the Lord for our words. We are his ambassadors. The answer we give is to be an “apologia” — a well reasoned-argument with compelling proof. The Lord is asking us to be prepared to give a logical defence. But there is more to it than an intellectual response.
There are several black screens in this video due to technical issues but they resolve after a few seconds wait. Thank you for your patience.

The Words We Speak -
Words Have Consequences
“Be careful with your words,” is good advice to many who have found themselves in the midst of a war of words. There can be grave consequences to the careers of media personalities who misspeak in a very public way. And the average social media user can find themselves lambasted or ostracized for their words. But how important is what we say, when it comes to God’s point of view? Jesus, when confronted by the leaders of his day, had this to say, “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” What did he mean?

Spiritual Warfare - Gird with Truth
Are We Prepared for Battle?
Our spiritual enemy is powerful and relentless, so scripture tells us that we need to gird our loins with truth. Jesus having done battle with the Adversary, knew we needed to stay alert and be prepared. In his final prayer before his crucifixion, Jesus asked the Father to protect the disciples from the evil one. They had to live in a world under the sway of this enemy, but they would not belong to his world. They were a part of the Father’s Kingdom and could rely on his help to do spiritual battle. Jesus in his example prayer reminded us to pray that the Father would rescue us from the evil one, the Father would not fail to do his part. So are we preparing and doing our part?

Fear Not — I Am with You
God has made promises by covenant that are valid for a 1,000 generations!
So when he advises us to, “Fear Not!” he is also able to prove true to his promise and protect and guide those who trust him. Do we appreciate God’s faithfulness, or consider his wonderful works for his covenant people, Abraham’s children?
If you are a Christian, then consider that you are Abraham’s descendant, regardless of ethnicity, and know that God’s promises are for you, too. The history of Israel is a study in God’s faithfulness in fulfilling his promises to nations and individuals. Though they like Abraham had to wander at times, yet he protected those whose heart was to obey and fear the Lord. But what about us, now? Can we have the confidence in God that will allay our fears?

The Father's Great Plan
God’s Mysterious Plan
Would it surprise you to know that God the Father’s great plan is a mystery to a heavenly audience? Both Paul and Peter wrote to encourage God’s people to remain strong, knowing that they were in a struggle with spiritual forces. And there were angelic onlookers!
The Father’s plan is being worked out in the lives of those he has called to walk with him. And they are to be his witnesses, not only to people, but to angelic beings, too. We who are called into God’s service are stewards of God’s mystery, his plan. And we must understand God’s purpose and our role in it.

What Spirit Motivates You?
A Lesson from James and John
What kind of spirit motivates people to do what they do? To answer that question, Luke, wrote of Jesus’ journey with this disciples to Jerusalem. Along the road the weary travellers asked to stay in a Samaritan village, but they were rebuffed. Why? Because the Samaritans saw that the group was on their way to Jerusalem. Now, there had been 500 years of contention between Jews and Samaritans over where one should worship. It had begun long before in the time of Zerubbabel when the Samaritans ha
d tried to undermine the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem. So there was a long-standing ethnic feud that prompted the Samaritan’s reaction to Jesus and his disciples. Their sin was a mere lack of hospitality to travel worn strangers. What would you have done if you walked in their sandals?

On the Road to Passover — Passover People
Passover People our Narrative of Hope
Over the centuries the scourge of anti-semitism has done an effective job of robbing Christians of their heritage as Passover People. How many Christians today understand what Paul wrote? That whether Jew or Gentile, if you belong to Christ you are Abraham’s children? How many understand their role in the biblical narrative, their common scriptural roots and shared biblical standards? But most importantly, how many grasp their new covenant relationship with the Father as Passover People with a glorious destiny?

On the Road to Passover
The New Covenant Passover in 2024 will be observed on Sunday April 21, 2024 after sunset
On the Road to Passover - important instructions from the scriptures to take to heart at this time of year.
Taking the Christian Passover Worthily
The Passover is a yearly time to appreciate God’s gift of forgiveness and to set our hearts to do his will. God has had compassion on us and has called us into his family. But now there is work to be done. Having been cleansed by God’s word we are to become holy as God is holy. No longer slaves to sin, we are now slaves to right living, so we can accomplish God’s purpose. This is an important time of year to consider what that purpose is and how God is working in our lives.
In 2024 according to the Hebrew calculated calendar the Christian Passover will be observed on Sunday evening April 24 after sunset.
Join us as we walk with Christ following in his footsteps.

Biblical Worldview - Esther and Purim
Power of a Biblical Worldview
The scriptures, the source of the biblical worldview, claim to be a "God-breathed." God's revelation of the reality of the world and our role in His plan. In teaching believers "how to live right" the scriptures challenge us to fulfill two overarching commands. "Live by every word of God" and "Bring every thought into captivity." This must be done in order to do our part in fulfilling Christ's will and accomplishing His purpose. But, this cannot be done, except that we have faith as a sure foundation — and this faith is strengthened as we read the stories of our ancestors in the faith.

A Biblical Worldview — Why Christians Fail?
The value system that leads to action is a worldview. So a biblical worldview is a set of moral beliefs/ethics that lead to righteous actions. It is grounded in biblical knowledge and awe of God. And, it is demonstrated through faith that manifests as positive, godly actions. The Barna survey concluded that parents were not guiding their children to adopt such a biblical worldview. For how can you give to the next generation what you do not have yourself…?

Lessons from Patrick of Ireland
Patrick’s Legacy
In North America many celebrate with beer and revelry a day they say is in honour of St. Patrick of Ireland. But here again is a mystery! Very few acknowledge that Patrick was actually a scripturalist. He was faithful to a strongly biblical worldview. How do we know? We can let his own writing inform us of the reality. Patrick, unlike his Romani contemporaries, was a reformer. He did not follow the politically correct version of Christianity that appealed to tradition. Patrick made his assertions from the bible alone. He gave no credence to the authority of the Roman church! It was only centuries later that his legacy was co-opted. When his former rivals claimed his missionary work as their own.

Strangers and Foreigners:
The news is full of stories about the thorny question of immigration. Here in North America, in Europe and many other nations, political leaders are wrestling with this issue. Due to conflict, oppression, or economic deprivation in other nations, many people are fleeing. They are seeking safe havens for themselves and their families. So what should a nation consider in establishing a fair, compassionate, and wise immigration policy — one that serves the country’s citizens and the potential refugees or immigrants. There are those who advocate opening the floodgates. Others want to put up barriers to limit or control access. So what was God’s advice? Are we willing to listen to what God says about immigration?

Faithful Marriage in a Faithless Age
The scriptures, though written millennia ago, offer us solid advice on how to face life's challenges. Consider the wisdom that Paul offered Titus on the roles of men and women in marriage — advice that has stood the test of time. Or delve into Luke's story of Jesus and what it means to be 'submissive' in our relationships.
Our world has largely forsaken the sound counsel that Paul gave to the Ephesians about husbands and wives willingly assuming and fulfilling their God-ordained roles in the family in accordance with God's plan. But we can take up this challenge! We can mindfully put off our carnal nature and put on the mind of God so we can grow in spiritual maturity and do the good work God wants us to do in our families. Marriage is a complex and profound relationship. So it is no wonder that God speaks through his Word to give us insight into this most meaningful of relationships. So how are we doing in our marriage? Or if you are hoping to marry, what type of person do you need to become? The apostles Peter and Paul provide a good checklist of characteristics that would help us in this important task of self-reflection. God is working in us to achieve his purpose, so are we putting in the effort we need to in our families to actively walk together with Christ? Are we divorce-proofing our marriage by building each other up and living in harmony while consciously submitting to God's plan for our lives?

Stressed? — God's Solution
When faced with bad news, disastrous events or conditions, our fear of the uncertainties of our situation whether personal or societal, can create in us a stress response of anxiety, frustration, anger, or despair.
We may not be able to escape these situations that cause us 'distress.' But we have the free will to help us reframe how we view these stressors and focus on godly priorities.
Of course even medical science knows that unmitigated stress can produce hormonal changes that cause mental conditions like depression or physical conditions like high blood pressure. So to live the abundant life God intends for us, we must deal effectively with the stress in our life.
God did not promise a stress-free existence, rather he assured those who followed him that they would face all of life's challenges. But there would be a difference between those who face stresses without God's vision and those who understand God's purpose in their lives.
Many of the biblical writers encourage us to know that God knows and appreciates our situation whatever the circumstances might be that are stressing us. His love for his children is unwavering and his commitment to our ultimate good is steadfast. He is able to free us from our fears and provide our every need.
So then the question becomes one of, 'What must we do and what is God's counsel to those who are in the midst of suffering and stressful situations?'
The scriptures offer sound advice.
