Hi fam,
We are happy to let you know that the winner of the vote for collaboration song #3 is “Losing My Religion” by R.E.M. The video lesson is up and ready. It’s complete with jam tracks, TAB, and a chord chart. Check out the lesson by following the link below.
https://www.guitarfam.com/songs/%22losing-my-religion%22
The due date for collaboration submissions is September 19th, so there is plenty of time for everyone to get it down and record a video. You can find all the information on the collaboration by visiting the Guitar Fam member’s area page.
This song is about the same difficulty level as collaboration #2 (“Have You Ever Seen the Rain”). All you need is a handful of open chords, one bar chord, and at least one strumming pattern to play the entire thing. The video teaches an easy version and an intermediate version, so it should be a pretty attainable goal for everyone.
Let us know if you have any questions as you start learning and polishing this great song. We look forward to seeing your submissions and putting them together for the collaboration video.

Hi fam,
This week’s lesson is a little off the beaten path for the Guitar Fam YouTube channel. I came across a song by Lincoln Brewster called “God of the Impossible” and loved the guitar solo so much that I just had to do a video on it.
The video, TAB, and jam track are available for you on the Guitar Fam site. You can access them by following the link below.
https://www.guitarfam.com/post/god-of-the-impossible-solo-lincoln-brewster
Another catalyst for this video was the @worshiptutorials Texas Star Pack I bought from their site for the Tonex pedal. It’s a wonderful-sounding tone capture based on one of my favourite amps of all time, the Mesa Boogie Lone Star. I found the tones very inspiring.
The amp patches can be used for the Line 6 Helix, HX Stomp, POD Go, IK Multimedia Tonex pedal, Fractal Axe-FX, and FM3. You can find them here.

Please let us know if you have any questions or other song requests for the channel.

Hey fam,
Do you ever get discouraged at how long it takes to learn a very challenging new song? Well, I've been working on a new song for the past 3.5 months, so I know how frustrating it can be to get down one of your "white whale" songs.
The tune is an instrumental cover of the hymn "Be Thou My Vision". Chelsea and I played it for a gig back in November, and I was reminded of how much I loved the chord progression and melody. That made me want to do an instrumental version of it.
This has been pretty much the only thing I've been working on in my personal practice time for the past 3.5 months. I had a lot of fun arranging and recording it. It really is a testament to how learning or writing songs can help you progress in a very focused way.
The next time you are frustrated with how long it is taking you to learn a song, just remember this. It takes most people quite a bit longer to learn a song than they initially estimate.
Thanks for watching,
Nate

Hi fam,
We just finished up another cover video guitar lesson for you. This time, we are looking at the much-requested “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver. You can find the video, jam track, and TAB/chord chart by following the link below.
https://www.guitarfam.com/songs/%E2%80%9Ctake-me-home%2C-country-roads%22
This is a great one to work on getting more specific with your strumming. It doesn’t quite qualify as an “Easy Song Lesson” because there is one bar chord, but it’s pretty close.
This is the strumming version of this song, and we will be releasing the fingerstyle version shortly.
Have fun, and let us know if you have any questions or comments as you progress.
Thanks,

This week's cover song lesson is “Lyin’ Eyes” by the Eagles. You can find the video, jam track and chord chart/TAB by following the link below.

We only have one bar chord to deal with, so this song is on the verge of qualifying as an “easy song”. It isn’t that difficult from a technical aspect, but the layout of the song will require some work to get down.
Have fun with this one, share it, and let us know if you have any questions or song suggestions as you progress.

Hi fam,
It's Nate here, and this week, I have a little tone comparison video for you to check out. I recently purchased Chelsea a Tonex pedal and liked it so much that I immediately got one myself.
This was quite the change because I have been using Line 6 products for about two decades. I guess you can say that I ended up switching from my HX Stomp to the Tonex pedal... sort of.
You'll have to watch the video to hear the whole story and listen to some tone comparisons between the HX Stomp and the Tonex pedal.
Enjoy,

“Sweet Caroline” is one of the most popular party songs of all time. That means it’s a great tune to keep in your back pocket for any social situations you may find yourself in.
In this lesson, we are going to take a look at the chords and strumming patterns you need to play all the parts of this song at an easier level and more of an intermediate level. Of course, we have the jam track and chord charts with and without a capo available for you.
The song is in the key of B major. If your bar chords are up to speed, you can use the chord chart in the key of B. If you'd like to use more open chords to make things easier, you can capo on the second fret and use the chord chart in the key of A. The video explains all of this in detail.
If you have any questions about this song, shoot us an email or leave a comment on the page. support@guitarfam.com

Hi fam,
“Hotel California” has got to be my #1 most requested guitar solo lesson of all time, and I’m happy to finally put it up here for you. The jam track and TAB are available for you on the Guitar Fam site, and there are also a few new features in the video to help make learning faster and easier. Let us know what you think, and send us any other guitar solo lesson requests you may have.

This song is excellent for working on bending and using pentatonic scales and arpeggios to play over specific chord changes. The best advice I have for you is to listen to the solo A LOT before even starting to learn it. Also, take it one measure or lick at a time. That will make learning the whole solo more manageable.
Have fun, and let us know how it goes,
Nate

Hi fam,
I’m happy to kick off the next era of the Guitar Fam YouTube channel and website with the first of many famous guitar solo videos.
I’ve always loved the solo on the Bob Marley song “No Woman, No Cry” and figured this would be a fun place to start. Al Anderson (Bob Marley’s Guitar Player) did an awesome job with the live execution of the solo, and it’s a perfect lead for working on your major pentatonic scale licks.
My goal with these videos is not only to teach you the solos but also the nuts and bolts of how they work so you can use the ideas you learn in your solos and improv.
You can watch the video by clicking the button below. Of course, we have the jam track and TAB for you to download on the Guitar Fam site.
