Grandparents Raising Their Grandchildren ~ Aiden's Story ~ Part 2
On today's video I'm sitting down and telling part 2 of Aiden's story. Y'all, these videos take a lot out of me. I'm still pretty raw even though this all took place 4 years ago. I'll never be able to get the visions out of my head and heart. This little boy has been though so much and I NEVER want him to feel like he's less than because his life doesn't look like that of another child that's fortunate to have both parents in the lives.

I'm Guilty Of ALMOST Loving My Addict To Death ~ Are You?!
Believe it or not, you CAN love your child to death, especially if he/she is an addict. All it takes is you cushioning their falls, giving them money, being their enabler. I know it's hard not to continue to do the normal parent things, but when it comes to your addict child there has to be firm boundaries and you have to have the ability to say no. Otherwise, you'll find yourself loving them to death.

No Matter What, We're STILL The Moms
Can someone please tell me what an addict's mom looks like?! Is it because of the tiredness in our eyes? Is it the sadness? None of us walk around waving a flag that announces our arrival or departure from anywhere or that signifies we're the moms of addicts. That's because we're still just regular moms that love and care about our kids (all of them) unconditionally no matter what path they've taken in life. It doesn't matter what mistakes they've made or are still making, we don't love them any less because we're their moms. Don't ever let someone tell you you're wrong for doing things you feel are right for you and your children. They don't live your life, they don't know your child(ren), and they sure have never walked in your shoes. Listen to those motherly instincts, set your boundaries and continue to love your children unconditionally. That's what moms are supposed to do!

Addiction Sucks! ~ Joseph Update ~ The Newest Issue To Rise Up
I'm keeping y'all updated with the Joseph saga and what happened at his court hearing yesterday. I wasn't expecting the outcome.
I'm also sharing the newest round of BS that all stems from addiction. It's once again tearing my family to shreds. Just when I think I can take a breath, it strikes again. I'm tired, y'all.

We HAVE To Be Their Voice ~ Addiction Knows NO Bounds
Using our voices for our children who are addicts is NOT enabling them! It's speaking up for them while they have no voice at all due to their addiction. It's absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. In fact, I'm proud of the me that I'm becoming while using my platform to put my voice out there. I will no longer sit by idly and wait for something to happen. That's not reality when it comes to addiction.

Her Name Was Grief ~ My Story Of How Grief Almost Took Over
Grief is a sneaky little thing and can spring up on you at any given time. From the time you find out that your child or loved one is addicted, grief starts to rear its ugly little head. It can completely take over if you're not very careful. I wanted to share part of my story of when grief completely took over and left me in shambles.
I sat with my anger long enough until she told me her name was grief. C.S. Lewis

They're Bringing Their Poison To OUR Small Towns! ~ This Needs To STOP NOW!
Somewhere along the line the war on drugs has been lost and forgotten. Nobody is fighting to keep these drugs off the streets or from entering our country. The border is WIDE open and the poison that's coming across it every day is staggering. It's not just the big cities anymore, it's our small little rural towns, our small college towns, our hometowns. If we don't start standing up for our children, grandchildren, etc. we're going to only see this get worse! Our Southern border needs to be shut down NOW!! Do we really think they care what they mix in with these drugs they're bringing in?! It's killing our children!!

The Smallest Victims Of Addiction ~ They Deserve Better!
We, as parents, know how heartbreaking it is for us to have to watch our babies destroying themselves with addiction, but what about their kids? What are they going through? What about the kids that have lost their parents to addiction? What about the kids that aren't lucky enough to have grandparents or other family members to take them in and show them the love they deserve? This video has been heavily on my mind and, honestly, there may be a part 2 to this. Only time will tell...

His 1st Ketamine Treatment Is In The Books ~ Holding On To Faith That This Works
My son has decided to try ketamine treatments for his addiction. I took him to his 1st treatment yesterday and I thought I'd share my view of things in this video. He has all the faith in this world that this is going to help him. I'm grasping for that faith, too. I think we both need this to work.

The Cost Of Addiction ~ Let's Talk Reality
Let's talk about the realities of the cost of addiction, including financially, physically, emotionally and mentally. It's easy to tell a parent of an addict that they need to get their child into rehab. Well, duh! Like we didn't already think about that and checked into it only to find that the cost of doing so is astronomical and that there's absolutely no REAL help to be found.

When Addicts Are Desperate They Do Desperate Things
I've learned a lot about addiction over the past 14 years of dealing with my son and I know this is a very true statement...Desperate addicts do desperate things no matter who it hurts or harms. This is happening on a daily basis and unfortunately their children are usually the ones who pay the ultimate price for their selfishness. Sometimes they pay for it with their lives, at no fault of their own. To me, this is unacceptable. The weight of these adult decisions should NEVER be placed on the shoulders of these children. We need to do better by these kids and protect them at all costs.

I'm The Mom Of An Addict ~ The Feeling Of Isolation
When you're a parent of an addict the feeling of being isolated is a real thing. But why?! Why do we feel like we can't talk about it?! We're dealing with a lot of trauma stemming from our child's addiction and society has made it to where we're not supposed to talk about it due to the fear of being retaliated against by some that don't even have a clue what goes on in the day to day life of an addict's parents. The fear, the hurt, the anger, the sadness, the loneliness, all the emotions that we go through every day can be overwhelming and stressful. Then add the negativity from people that have never lived in this hell and, well, it can make life even more painful. None of us should EVER feel isolated or lonely in this! This is a HUGE epidemic around the world and there are more of us than I could've ever imagined!! There is strength in numbers! We just have to come together and be a community of strength, love and support and it's beyond time we do just that.

Hi, My Name Is Missy And I'm The Mom Of An Addict ~ One Of My Worst Fears Happened Today
This was NOT the video I had plans on sharing today but it's real life, it's raw, it's emotional, and it has to be shown. My day went from excitement and looking forward to having a great day to scared, angry, heartbroken, etc. This is the life of a parent of an addict. Today my son decided to throw away a year of sobriety and to use an HOUR before I picked him up to spend the day with me and his son. This video is very raw and emotional. I won't apologize for it because it's the space I was in at the time. We thought long and hard about whether to even upload this video, but I truly feel in my heart that someone out there needs to see this.

It's OK To Not Be OK... Until It's Not ~ Don't Lose Yourself In Their Addiction
When your loved one is in the throws of addiction and you're on that roller coaster of emotions, it's okay to not be okay every single minute. In fact, it's normal. We just can't allow ourselves to wallow around in it and lose ourselves in THEIR addiction. We have to find our coping mechanisms and pull ourselves up, sometimes by our boot straps, and still function in daily life. I pray for each of you to find your ways of handling all the emotions and all the fears quickly. No one should ever have to go through this alone!
