Episode 65: Dr. Walter Block
Dr. Walter Block is a libertarian scholar and professor at Loyola University New Orleans, and he is an author of two-dozen books. He is also a senior fellow at the Mises Institute. His work focuses on Austrian economics and libertarian political theory -- and he is not afraid to tackle thorny/unpopular topics.
In this episode, we started off by discussing Walter's early years in Brooklyn, where he was a classmate of Bernie Sanders' and later met Ayn Rand and her associates as an undergrad. He credits some conversations and meetings with them for opening his eyes to liberty and free markets. Walter was also a friend and mentee of the late Murray Rothbard's.
In addition to discussing some of the universities with Austrian economists in residence, we spent most of the episode talking about the Israel-Hamas conflict. Walter recently co-wrote a controversial op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal in which he defended Israel's actions and was highly critical of Palestinian-rights movements. We talked about some of theory as well as practical aspects of what he feels must be done in the wake of the October 7 attack on Israel.

Episode 46: Newsom's reality check, and California's public-policy failures
In this solo episode, I recount California's numerous public-safety and public-policy failures over the past few years: water mismanagement, increasing street crime, subsidies & support for drug abuse, Prop. 57, homelessness, etc. Gavin Newsom is now being forced to sound like a voice of reason (partly) because he is trying to finagle a run for the presidency. So that might mean that reparations will be a "no way" and critical water projects might actually get built (over the objections of the fanatical environmental zealots).

Episode 33: Louis Marinello on CalExit 3.0
In this episode, my guest was Louis Marinelli, president of YesCalifornia. We discussed the new CalExit 3.0 efforts, in which 22 left-leaning coastal California counties would eventually secede from the United States. The remaining 36 California counties would remain in the United States. In addition to detailing how CalExit 3.0 would work, we discussed California’s culture and political climate, peaceful secession movements, the Jeffersonian tradition and local political control, classical liberalism, and much more.

Episode 32: Reformed Libertarians Kerry Baldwin and Gregory Baus
In Episode 32, my guests are Kerry Baldwin and Gregory Baus. Kerry and Gregory co-host the Reformed Libertarians podcast. We discussed several different topics including the relationship between Christianity, anarchy, and the state; Christian & libertarian approaches to abortion, prostitution, etc.; morality and the law; Romans Chapter 13; subsidiarity – and much more!
Also, in the first few minutes of this episode, I discuss California’s simultaneous rain/flood emergency and never-ending “drought state of emergency.” California’s abusive laws and idiotic regulations have ensured that the state will always careen sinusoidally from one emergency to another – even though everyone knows in advance that California usually has rainy winters and dry summers.
In addition to co-hosting the Reformed Libertarians podcast, Kerry Baldwin has the Dare to Think podcast, and she operates the Mere Liberty website. Kerry is an independent researcher, co-author, and Socratic coach with a BA in Philosophy. She is a confessional Presbyterian and became a libertarian in 2008.
Gregory Baus is a confessional Presbyterian and student of Reformational philosophy. He became a libertarian anarchist in 2008. His personal interests include classic diners, folk and jazz music, and speculative fiction.
