Klaus Bernpaintner – Sweden, Free Market, & Social State? | Libertarianism.UK Podcast
To discuss all things about Sweden and Swedish-related topics, today we spoke with Klaus Bernpaintner, one of Sweden's best known Misesians. In the podcast we covered the claim from Bernie Sanders that the 'Scandinavian Model' and its high-tax welfare state system is some bastion of socialist perfection. We also spoke about the Sveriges Riksbank, one of the oldest central banks in the world, and its effect on Sweden over time, from its earliest days, including its sponsorship of the 'Nobel Prize' for economics. In addition, we covered the recent 'infection of unspecified origin' and how that was dealt with so differently in Sweden compared to most other places in the western world. To conclude, we spent some time discussing the two main Mises-leaning websites in Sweden, Mises.SE and Folkungen.SE. Along the way, we also reviewed the recent 'Folkungating 2023' conference and we briefly mentioned 'Swexit', a possible proposed exit of Sweden from the EU.

Patrick Barron – Global Gold Money to Return? | Libertarianism.UK Podcast
Today, we spoke with Patrick Barron, an economic commentator and Mises.Org author, as well as formerly being a professor of economics at the University of Iowa. We talked about the recently reported stories concerning discussions between Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin about a new international trading settlements system based upon gold as the underlying security asset. As well as Patrick's own articles on this subject at Mises.org, we also referenced related research articles by Alasdair Macleod of Goldmoney.Com. Patrick also spoke about the work of Sergey Glazyev, Vladimir Putin's senior economics advisor, who has been working officially on a new trade settlement currency for use between members of the Eurasia Economic Union (EAEU) and all members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), as well as the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). Between them, EAEU, SCO, and BRICS represent over half of the world's current population, so Glazyev's proposed trade settlement currency could become a real working global gold money within the next few years, pitting itself firmly against the US dollar as the world's reserve trading currency.

"[With SMART meters and technology], you see this potential there for not only two-way exchange of information, but two-way way control."
"[When] you've used your energy allocation for the month, the lights go out, [and] the heating goes off."
"[The WEF agenda] is reliant on keeping people entertained, you know, keeping people distracted, and a lot of that in itself is dependent on energy."
"This is about a massive reduction in human activity ... whether it's travel, or consumption, or [human] expression, or anything [else] that we do that makes up our life on this planet."
"[All of] these agendas coming out of the WEF ... [are a] deliberate bamboozle."
"[If] you call [a 15-minute city] a concentration camp, because that's just a name, you know these names and words are so powerful."
"[If] you want to ... attack people, [the] first thing you attack is language."
"[As a defence against the WEF], first and foremost don't pay too much attention to [them], because these people are not gods."
"One of the things about all these smart systems is, there's a layer upon layer of complexity ... They're incredibly energy hungry, and when they go wrong it's catastrophic failure. And that is actually in terms of fighting back a great potential strength for us."

Some quotes from the Podcast:
“You're asking people to still have faith in this institution [the state], to give them their liberty, even though this institution is the biggest threat to their liberty.”
“People have to want their liberty. There’s no way of getting around that.”
“The reason we’re bombarded 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with so much propaganda, is because they [the state] know they have to win the ideological war.”
“The actual reason why the [Berlin] wall came down when it did, is because some bureaucrats mis-announced a new travel policy.”
“As Murray Rothbard said in the anatomy of the state, [the state] is a separate institution. The state is not us.”
“I think [decentralisation] is probably the most realistic way of going forward.”
“The people have to want to take power [back] for themselves.”
“[In the UK], last year was the year of two queens, two monarchs, three prime ministers, [and] five chancellors.”
“Boris Johnson should be the final lesson to anybody who's even modestly in favour of greater freedom, that trying to elect the right people is not going to really work.”
“[We must] try to decentralise political power as far away as possible from their existing concentrations.”
“The motivation for Brexit was not to create a libertarian paradise.”

Some quotes from the Podcast:
“I would say that where the state began as an embryo version is when it becomes a monopolist over the trial function and the rendering of legitimate judgement.”
"I think specifically that what the state does is that it's an organisation that monopolises law. That seems [to be] the essential element.”
“There's an element within all the concepts of the state that it has overwhelming force in certain respects, but it also has 'legitimacy'.”
“[Under J.B. Say’s class analysis], you break society down into the net tax payers and the net tax gainers.”
“One of the biggest ways [the state] influences regular people isn't directly by [subsidising] the intellectuals, because [ordinary people] don't read the intellectuals and don't watch any of the stuff that they produce. What happens is that a lot of art producers and makers of films or music or whatever, are influenced ultimately by philosophy and intellectual ideas. [The intellectuals] are influencing people who make culture, who make TV, films, et cetera and this is then disseminated around the population.”
“[The state] is changing [its use of democracy as a legitimising tool] because democracy is now giving the wrong results. The [Brexit] EU referendum is the best example of that. Donald Trump's election in 2016 is also a good example of that.”
“[The state] is moving away from democracy proper to saving the world from climate change and [also using] public health interventions.”
“You already have [a single world state] in certain respects, given the almost universal response to the corona virus with lockdown policies.”
“One of the ways in which you can lessen the power of the state is to home-educate your children, because even the private schools are basically Leftist indoctrination factories.”

Some quotes from the Podcast:
“Come the next election, we have a choice. We can vote Labour and get the Leftists we voted for or we can vote Conservative for the Leftists we didn't vote for.”
“All of the bad things that have happened in this country over the past few generations really started with the election of Margaret Thatcher.”
“You think to yourself, England is still around me. England hasn't been destroyed. It can't be destroyed. It will triumph. But it's not true.”
“You can talk about the organic linkage and development of our constitution and our national ways, but in general I'm afraid the nation has been atomised into a mass of terrified and obedient sheep.”
“As a classics teacher, in which I do some limited good, I do the limited good that I can to hand on our civilisation to another generation, and that's as much as I can do.”
“There is no revolutionary class in this country. And in the absence of that, the most that we can hope for is that there will this time be a successful revolution in America, and fresh orders will be sent out from the new people in Washington to their satellites in London. And we might see some improvement because of that, but I do not see any spontaneous reform in this country.”
“We are already closer to totalitarianism than supposedly Communist China.”
“[On Brexit] the idea is to wait until enough of the leavers have died out or until lavish grants of citizenship have produced a new majority, then announce that circumstances have changed and run a rigged referendum and take us back in. They may not take us formally into the European Union and there will be some very creative new membership agreement. But I think the ruling class in this country was rather surprised and frightened when the referendum went the wrong way for their view of things. First of all, they tried to stop it by just refusing to go through with the will of the people. And then they had to go through some form of the will of the people. But it’s just part of this holding operation, to keep things ticking over until the whole thing can be reconstituted.”
“I have a great deal of respect for Nigel Farage as an individual and he is the man who got us as far as we've got in leaving the European Union. I think the problem with his party is that it is filled with the usual Tory boys.”
“Conservatives talk about freedom. They talk about free markets. They talk about tradition. And they have been in power now for twelve years and we're living in a Leftist, totalitarian police state which is growing progressively worse.”
“The only thing that we can do is to form ourselves into libertarian communities. Now that sounds rather utopian and vague, but what I mean is this: if you need an accountant, you go to someone who shares your personal political opinions. If you want to take legal action or if you want someone to paint your house or clean your windows or re-plaster your walls, you should make sure to give your preference to people who broadly share your outlook on life.”

The Libertarianism.UK Podcast: Greg Moffitt – The Great Reset & War On Liberty (Part I)
Tonight's guest is Greg Moffitt, the host of the 'Legalise Freedom' podcast, which you can find here:
https://legalise-freedom.com/
We spoke about the book by Klaus Schwab and Thierry Malleret, 'COVID-19: The Great Reset', and the way it's being used as a future global road map by many of the world's governments.
In Part I of this podcast, we discuss the next four major things that the globalists are planning next, as proposed within the book. We then discuss the rationale behind the book, before discussing the first of its three main sections, on the economy.
In Part II of this podcast, next week, we will discuss sections two and three of the book, on energy and the economy, as well as a few ideas on how to counteract the globalist strategy as laid out in this 'Great Reset' book.

Some quotes from the Podcast:
“The problem with the central bank digital currency model, and what they're proposing, is that it really goes way beyond [the current system of plastic money]. It's proposing to make things like current currency expiration. What you could spend the money on could [also] be controlled and a lot of this stems from [the] climate objectives [of] net zero.”
“[With digital currency], the potential for control manipulation of people's lifestyles and activities is enormous.”
“If the technocratic globalist model continues down the path that it is, there'll be even more people, even more human beings, for whom there is no meaningful work of any sort.”
"[With universal basic income], you could be made to jump through any number of hoops in order to receive that money. It's just another form of dependence on the state.”
“The ‘Great Reset’ is really the ‘Great Rehash’.”
“[Digital currency, universal basic income, and social credit are] three kinds of planks of the same proposed system.”
"Social credit could see you getting rewards … for good behaviour. More likely, [it will be] deductions for inappropriate behaviour, inappropriate spending, and what have you.”
"[Social credit could be applied to the] people you associate with [and] with the behaviour of your family and friends.”
“[The ‘Great Reset’ is] more to do actually with maintaining [the globalist elite’s] own position more than anything else.”
“[With the ‘Great Reset’], you go beyond ideology into what we [could] just call … religiosity.”
