My vocal cover of "Broken Over You", originally by Vertical Horizon. The audio is comprised of my vocals, layered over a karaoke backing track, recorded on the Smule app back on the 14th of August 2021. I wanted to add this recording to my "Time for Music" series and create a video for it to play on "Happy Hour With Lex & Tony" on Twitch for the first show of 2025. My vocal cover of "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al Yankovic which it's self was a parody of "Ridin" by Chamillionaire. All vocals are mine, originally recorded in Smule for a singing group I am part of (Vocal Fusion) for their rap challenge back in June of 2022. I was inspired to create a very simple video for this back in August 2022 to get the song played on "Happy Hour With Lex and Tony" on Twitch and that video featured a still image with some VERY basic windows video editor effects. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience in making clip videos over the past 2 years and wanted to give this song the full "Time for Music" make-over. This video was created using the free tool: Hitfilm by FXhome and is comprised of various video clips I could find on the internet. A vocal cover, created in Cakewalk. I mixed two different karaoke backing tracks with no vocals as the backbone of the song and then layered my own vocals on top. Some pitch correction was used in some of the backing as the higher notes were difficult for me to hit naturally. The video was put together with HitFilm by FxHome using various free use video clips, sourced online.

This is a layered vocal performance of mine, created with Cakewalk by Bandlab. It was one of the first vocal covers with clip-style video I made for viewing on "Happy hour with Lex and Tony" on Twitch and I decided to use the editing skills I had acquired since then to revisit and re-edit the entire piece. I felt that the original vocal was a little hidden in the mix and wanted to change some of the video clips, timing and transitions to improve the overall quality. The backing track used is the song Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars and if you like it, please buy/stream the original from your favoured streaming service or store. During the recording process I looked up the meaning to the phrase "children of a lesser god" and discovering it was used to describe people with disabilities I listened back to the lyrics. Suddenly their meaning changed from Jared Leto's original meaning and I was reminded of the story of Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan. Now the kings and queens are not giving unfulfilled promise but instead, Teachers are the the kings and Queens of unlocking a child's true potential through their promise to teach them. Being a teaching assistant myself and often teaching children with special educational needs like autism on a one-to-one basis, this song now has a much deeper and powerful meaning for me. We are really only held back by the barriers and prejudices we impose on ourselves, where in reality, nothing is beyond our grasp if we transpire to work towards it. If you can watch this without shedding a tear then I suggest that perhaps you weren't listening and watching closely enough.

A Vocal cover of Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill. All vocals performed by me over a karaoke backing track. Audio created in Cakewalk by Bandlab and the video has been produced by me in Hitfilm by FXHome with free use video clips sourced from various websites. I believe the song was written by Peter Gabriel after having an epiphany while atop Solsbury Hill, that he should leave the band "Genesis" and go out on his own. I have tried to stick pretty true with the imagery to the original lyrics but have changed the timing of the singing slightly in the lines "I was feeling part of the scenery, I walked right out of the machinery." I just think if flows better my way (sorry Mr Gabriel). I have also cut the song short by fading out the end guitars (I never was any good at ad-lib outro vocals). I wanted to remake this song in Cakewalk, doing a faithful vocal cover of the original with my own backing vocals. I will also upload a version of this with lyrics on the screen too as some of the lyrics can be hard to make out in this style of singing. In the original song, I believe the main theme of the song was Heroin addiction, Petticoats was the slang term for upper-middle class youths and "Guns" was the slang term for the syringes. For my video, I tried to steer it more towards American gang culture, drugs & guns. The video was made with Hitfilm by FXHome, using free use video clips.
