How to Replace the Keypad and Lock on a Cannon Gun Safe
JoseExtremeDIYCannon sent me an NL lock and keypad replacement for this Cannon Gun Safe . It wasn't a direct replacement for the original Lagard and it didn't fit quite right! Follow along and see how I replaced the entire lockset and keypad and fixed the problem the new lock presented. This is a follow up to the first cannon safe video I posted where the keypad failed. I was able to recover that by replacing the keypad. Here I replace the entire lock mechanism. Cannon Digital Gun Safe Fail Fix! Locked Out! Don't Drill - TRY THIS FIRST!
Jose's Extreme DIYI found a good way to fix my Cannon Digital Gun safe fail. The digital keypad died and I was locked out. Fresh batteries didn't help, it was dead. But I found a way to fix it without drilling the safe! I called Cannon and they agreed to send me a new lock. They also told me I would have to get the safe drilled. I called a local safe expert who quoted me $400-$800 to drill the safe. I would rather buy a new safe! So, I did some research and found out how to fix this without drilling the gun safe! They told me, "Don't drill, try this first" and it worked! ***Note - This is not a video on how to break into a Safe, it assumes the safe is yours and you know the old combination*** Check out my Amazon Affiliate Review Videos (I may earn commissions on these videos): https://www.amazon.com/shop/josesextremediy This helps support our channel as we earn commissions from sales. If You Own A Liberty Safe You Must watch this! Applies to ANY Brand Gun Safe
Jose's Extreme DIYHow to Protect your safe from unauthorized Access! As the dust settles from the recent Liberty safe fiasco, I thought this would be timely. Basically I go over how to secure your safe from an unauthorized access through the manufacturer accidentally giving out a default factory combination and thereby compromising your safe. By the way, this applies to any safe manufacturer. In all fairness to Liberty Safe, they released the combination after seeing proof of a warrant. They have also announced that a customer can have the history of their safe expunged or removed from their records. Below are paid affiliate links to two replacement lock bodies and combo pads that I would use. S&G and LaGard are standards in the industry. I would definitely avoid any no name cheaper brands. La Gard https://amzn.to/3sQA8Ok S&G https://amzn.to/486kvT1 DISCLAIMER: This video is not intended to defeat or circumvent law enforcement! If they have a warrant then they will get in your safe! The video simply describes a process in which you can swap out the factory lock body which in effect, removes the old factory code. If you have an older safe, this is probably something you want to do anyway. The lock body on my safe failed a few years ago and I was very lucky that I was able to get in with a replacement combination pad so I could replace the lock body. This video goes over the complete process.54 views
