Use Probiotics for Acid Reflux
Dr. Eric BergFind out why you may want to use probiotics for acid reflux or heartburn. Timestamps 0:00 Introduction: Probiotics for acid reflux 0:10 How do probiotics help with acid reflux? 1:33 The gut-brain axis 2:35 Antibiotics and the gut 2:58 Microbes and bile salts 3:27 Natural remedies for acid reflux or heartburn 4:03 Share your success story! Gut and Brain Connection: ▶️ https://youtu.be/VXhqnRT-Ou8 ▶️ https://youtu.be/MLJOXKY1SYs There is an interesting link between using probiotics and improving acid reflux or heartburn. Let’s talk about it. In one study, they found that 79% of people who took probiotics had relief from acid reflux. But how can a probiotic that affects the gut bacteria also affect the stomach? We need to look at the digestive system as one whole connecting system. When you affect one part of it, the other parts are affected. One type of bacteria we have is lactic acid bacteria. This type of bacteria acidifies the colon. We also have lactic acid yeast, which acidifies the colon. These microbes help with digestion. The more complete digestion you have in the lower part of the digestive system, the better it’s going to be for the upper part, like the stomach. If you don’t have enough microbiome in your large intestine, that can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria in your small intestine. This is called SIBO. This can also back up the whole system causing regurgitation of fluids. There is also a relationship between your brain and your gut, which are connected by the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is bidirectional. What happens in the gut affects the brain, and what happens in the brain can affect the gut. The vagus nerve is a part of the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system controls the valves on the top and bottom of the stomach, which regulate the amount of food that goes through these passages. Someone may have a problem with the vagus nerve if there is a problem in the lower part of the gut. If you are on antibiotics, one of the big side effects is GERD or acid reflux. Antibiotics destroy your microbes. If you don’t have enough good bacteria, that can severely affect the stomach. The microbes in the large intestine also make bile salts. If there is a problem, this can lead to more of an acid effect in the small intestine, which can create ulcers and acid reflux. If you’ve ever felt like you had a lump in your throat, but there’s nothing in there, I’m going to give you some tips you can try. First, let’s talk about the structure of the throat. At the back of your throat, you have your pharynx. Right below it, you have your larynx. Just below that is the trachea. Behind the trachea, you have your esophagus. Within the structure of your throat, you have a little flap. This controls the food, so it doesn’t go down the wrong pipe and into your lungs. All of these pieces are made up of nerves, muscles, tendons, and cartilage. A lot of the time, the sensation of a lump in your throat is actually stress. When you go through stress, you activate and tense up all of the tissues in your throat. A lump in your throat can also be caused by a virus, low vitamin D, GERD, and problems with the vagus nerve. A spasm in the soft tissue of the throat can also cause a lump sensation. The top cause of this is hypocalcemia—or low calcium. Taking calcium may help this situation. Increasing your levels of vitamin D may also help. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, age 58, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. One study found that curcumin was just as effective as ibuprofen at reducing pain from arthritis without side effects! It’s also shown to be as effective as aspirin. Another study showed that curcumin had comparable results to Prednisone in reducing inflammation for rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and IBS. It has also been shown to produce antidepressant effects similar to Prozac and Zoloft. Curcumin has anti-diabetic properties and effects similar to Metformin. It also has anticoagulant properties similar to aspirin and Warfarin. Research has shown that curcumin has benefits similar to statins and can help reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. One study compared curcumin to 5-fluorouracil, a chemotherapy drug. Turmeric has been shown to be as effective as anti-inflammatory drugs, especially for irritable bowel disease and digestive problems. It may also help reduce blood pressure and inhibit pathogens, especially fungi. To prepare turmeric water, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder, a pinch of black pepper, and half of a lemon in a glass of warm water. To prepare golden milk, combine ½ teaspoon of turmeric, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of black pepper in a cup of milk or coconut milk. Heat the mixture and remove from heat just before it comes to a boil. You can also add turmeric to a smoothie with berries and kefir. If you have a cough, try drinking a cup of hot water with a teaspoon of turmeric and a tablespoon of raw honey. The #1 Superfood in the World
Dr. Eric BergIs red meat unhealthy? You’ve probably been taught that red meat causes cancer and other health conditions like type 2 diabetes and heart disease, but did you know that red meat is the #1 superfood? Discover the amazing health benefits of red meat in this video! 0:00 Introduction: The #1 superfood is red meat! 0:10 Is red meat healthy? 0:27 Green powder vs. red meat 1:37 Glucagon and red meat nutrition 2:20 Does red meat cause cancer? 2:37 The importance of protein 3:41 More red meat nutrients 5:17 Red meat truth 5:43 Animal protein 7:14 Red meat vs. white meat BOOK LINKS: https://www.amazon.com/Dorito-Effect-Surprising-Truth-Flavor/dp/1476724237 https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Zone-Achieving-SuperHealth-Permanent/dp/0060391901 Today, I’m going to tell you about the #1 superfood, red meat! Some people think green powder is the best superfood, but while it's very beneficial, it’s missing one important ingredient—protein. Green powder has vitamin C, K1, beta-carotene, magnesium, potassium, and phytonutrients but no protein. To optimize your health, you might want to start consuming grass-fed red meat along with your green powder. Red meat is an excellent source of B vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, iron, selenium, zinc, and DHA. Grass-fed red meat also contains phytonutrients. Red meat increases the antioxidant glutathione and is a potent source of carnosine, an antioxidant that helps prevent glycation. Protein consumption triggers the hormone glucagon, which stabilizes your blood sugar and helps counter the effects of insulin. Grass-fed red meat protein is the best source of protein! A large portion of your body is made of protein. Muscle, collagen, ligaments, tendons, fascia, cell membranes, skin, and bones are all composed of protein. The 74,000 enzymes in your body are proteins, along with your neurotransmitters and hormones. Your blood contains a significant amount of protein, and it's also essential for immune cells. Red meat contains taurine, an amino acid needed to help prevent high blood pressure, and leucine, an amino acid that triggers the synthesis of muscle. Your body can make glucose from protein when necessary. Gluconeogenesis is the production of new glucose, which occurs mainly in the liver. The protein leverage hypothesis states that animals, humans, and insects will continue to eat until they satisfy their protein requirement. This is why you will overeat if you consume junk food—it has no protein! If you have low blood sugar, you should consume protein, not candy! Red meat contains myoglobin, a type of protein that helps carry oxygen. Red meat contains more myoglobin and iron than white meat. Cows, sheep, and goats have a unique ability to concentrate the nutrients from the grass into their meat.
