As a school drop-out, he faced abuse and bullying, dealt with asthma, and tragically lost his father to suicide. These experiences led to a diagnosis of PTSD as a teenager due to exposure to violence. However, Matt's story doesn't end there.
Against all odds, Matt transformed his life. He became a champion martial artist, a skilled bouncer and bodyguard, a best-selling author, a successful business owner, an online course creator, a captivating speaker, a coach, and even a TikTok and short-form video specialist. At the age of 50, he embarked on a full-time educational journey, earning an MSc in Marketing, and he is now working towards his PhD. Matt's achievements are awe-inspiring. He holds multiple black belts, has earned gold, silver, and bronze medals as a world champion, and has been inducted into the martial arts hall of fame twice. Not to mention, he has received a prestigious martial arts lifetime achievement award. Matt is also an accomplished author with four books and three eBooks under his belt, and he regularly contributes to industry publications. His expertise extends to online courses, social media and business coaching, and he is a proud owner of multiple successful businesses, including a martial arts school that he has dedicated himself to for over 13 years.
