Gentle flowing mountain stream
Relax to the sights and sounds of this gentle flowing mountain stream. You'll also hear birds tweeting in the background. When I recorded this I was the only person on top of this expansive mesa. I was immersed in nature. Not many people wanted to hike across the snow-covered landscape. It was also after sunset.

Juniper Peak Panorama
A short, 360-degree panorama view from the top of Juniper Peak in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Narrated by TJ Burr, author of Rocky Mountain Adventure Collection. An opportunity to see the views from this mountain without climbing it yourself. It is one of over 5,000 mountains in Colorado so it is unlikely that you will climb this one. Surrounding scenery shown: Snowcapped Thirteeners, Centennial Cone Peak, Clear Creek, and mountains all around. The access to this mountain is from Highway 6 in Clear Creek Canyon from the Mayhem Gulch Trailhead.

Hiking in 30 mph wind on snow-covered mesa top
This is what it is like when the wind is blowing 30 mph on North Table Mountain in Colorado on February 12, 2022. The trail was 100% covered with snow. The wind was blowing even harder when I arrived at the summit rock outcrop. I started the hike with a light long-sleeve shirt, then later added a heavier top, stocking cap, and winter gloves. This was about 20 minutes before sunset. I still had a light coat and wind breaker in my pack in case I needed them. From here on out the temperature dropped and I wouldn't finish hiking until well after dark.

Log fish ladder on Beaver Creek tributary to Shavers Fork in WV
This video shows a log fish ladder used to connect a brook trout spawning stream to the main stem of the Shavers Fork. It is located in the Monongahela National Forest in WV. This was part of a large project that I worked on to improve brook trout habitat on this beautiful stream.

TJ Burr talks about North Table Mountain from the summit
TJ Burr (ColoMountaineer) discusses the half-mile incline of North Table Mountain and wildlife you might see when hiking there. He also discusses the gear he had with him for this short hike on a cold, windy, late-day hike. The half-mile incline is a wide trail ranging from 15% to 22% slope and 400 feet of vertical gain. You can easily hike farther to get over 1,000 feet of vertical. The incline is great cardio training.

Virtual Hike on Longhorn Trail in White Ranch Park, Colorado
A video showing a 0.7-mile portion of the Longhorn Trail that is rated as difficult hiking because it is steep and rocky in places. Narrated by TJ Burr (author of Rocky Mountain Adventure Collection). If you are thinking about hiking this trail this video will give you a good idea what to expect. I filmed the video on December 4, 2021, following an unusually warm, dry stretch of weather starting in November.
This hike was part of 6.75 miles of hiking I did on this Saturday. It was dark when I made it back to the trailhead.
Location: White Ranch Park is located north of Golden, Colorado in Jefferson County. There are 2 trailheads: 1) East (lower), and 2) West (upper).
Happy Trails!
