Windrock Trail 51 (Panther Rock)
While exploring the Winter Scenery in Tennessee, we included a trip to WindRock Park. While there, we traveled down Trail 51 to earn our Jeep Badge of Honor. While Trail 51 is possible with a stock Jeep, we would recommend at least a 2.5" lift and 33" tires. Otherwise, the ride will require a lot of spotting and the potential for some vehicle damage.

Sway Bars Connected vs Disconnected #Jeep
In this short video we show a comparison of the same Jeep traversing an obstacle with the sway bars connected and again disconnected. This shows a good example of the benefits that come from disconnecting. This is a 2020 JLU Sport S on 33" tires and a 2.5" lift with Teraflex Sway Bar Quick Disconnects.

Georgia Traverse Fall 2021, Part 3 from our KY/TN Trip
While returning from our trip to Kentucky and Tennessee, we took a ride on part of the Georgia Traverse from Betty's Creek to Upper Hightower Road. The Georgia Traverse is a collection of county, state and Forest Service roads that comprise a (mostly) off-pavement route across North Georgia. There were multiple water crossings including the Tullulah River. The route offered an opportunity to see more of the wild side of Georgia and enjoy some less crowded areas. While most of the roads didn't require 4x4, we used 4-High to minimize damage to the road.

Teal Ox, 2020 Sport S JLU 2.5" lift with 33” tires
Night Fury, 2021 Willys JL no lift with 32” tires

KY, TN & GA Adventure : Part 2, Kentucky and the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway
We visited NE Kentucky in the fall to explore the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway (DBBB), Red River Gorge and Bourbon Country. On the way, we took a side trip to Cumberland Falls. The DBBB and Red River Gorge are awesome. Bourbon country is amazing, even if you don’t drink, for the history and architecture. Cumberland Falls is awesome as well. Check out the links below for more information on these places.

Stompin' with Don in the Ocala National Forest - FTS Off-Roading
Join us as we ride through the SE portion of the Ocala National Forest (ONF) with the Florida Trail Stompers. The Ocala National Forest covers 607 square miles and was proclaimed as the first National Forest east of the Mississippi in the continental United States in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt. The ONF protects the world's largest contiguous sand pine scrub forest.
Despite its high, dry, central scrub ridges, the Ocala National Forest is rich in water resources with more than 600 lakes, rivers and springs.
Four major natural springs of crystal clear water can be enjoyed at the popular recreation areas of Juniper Springs, Salt Springs, Alexander Springs and Silver Glen Springs.

The Ladies take Us to Ocala National Forest for a Labor Day Ride
Our Lady Jeepers take us on a ride through the southern portion of Ocala National Forest for a ride on Labor Day. Cheryle in Great White and Jo in Bluey have only been Jeeping for a couple of months, but they drove great. You will note some of the areas we drove through were a little tight and we did get a few pinstripes. If you ride through Ocala NF and want to avoid the scratches, stick to the two-digit roads.

We join Florida Beginner Trail Rides for a Beginners Recovery Class and Ride
We joined Florida Beginner Trail Rides along with Grant Daddario and Timothy (TJ) Armstrong in Citrus Wildlife Management Are (WMA) as they taught a group of new Jeep owners how to get out of sticky situations while off-roading.
Grant and TJ both performed Heavy Duty Recovery operations in the Military and are bringing their knowledge and experience to help teach our members how to get out of a situation when they're stuck without damaging the trail or surrounding area.
After the conclusion of the training, we had the opportunity to lead some of the Jeeps on a ride through the northern portion of Citrus WMA.

Our Friends Take Their New Jeep, Great White for its First Ride
We join some friends for their first ride in their new to them 2016 JKL, Great White. They had an opportunity to experience some mud, off camber and ride along as we dropped into the big dip on Trail 14 in Citrus WMA. They learned a lot while having fun. We did experience one minor mishap with a fender, but it was easily repaired.
Brake Lock Differential (BLD)
BLD is a system that comes standard on all levels of JK and JL Jeep Wranglers. It is not traction control in that it does not cut engine power to prevent spin, which is what most traction control systems do. It just applies brakes to the spinning wheel and routes the engine power to the other wheel without cutting engine power. The BLD feature is an automatic process and is active when in 4H or 4L modes. It is part of the Electronic Stability Control (ESC)/Traction Control systems.
To effectively use the BLD system the driver should slowly and gradually apply more throttle when they enter a situation where a wheel is slipping. This will allow the sensors to determine the need to apply the brake to the slipping wheels while at the same time generating the necessary power and torque to send to the wheels with traction. BLD does not replace locking differentials, it does 90% of what limited slip or lockers do. Lockers are the way to go if you do a lot of serious off road, but for the occasional off-road ride with a handful of rough obstacles, the BLD is perfect.
