• Biblical applications for parenting.
Book Summary
Salt, Light and Kids
How to Parent Well in Today’s Culture
ARE YOU PARENTING OR ARE YOU PARENTING WELL?
Raising kids today is more challenging than it has ever been. Technology, social media, and the ever-shifting standards of what is right and wrong can make parenting in modern-day culture difficult to navigate. If we want to win the battle as parents, we need to have the desire to truly parent well. If we want to parent well, we must resolve to make parenting more important than almost anything else and give it the effort and attention that’s required. With all the outside influences that kids are facing every single day, parenting well requires a heightened sense of commitment and discernment, as well as a willingness to lead by example. Most parents want to do the best job they can, and with much focus and effort can succeed in this very noble desire and responsibility. In Salt, Light, and Kids, Steve Hines helps parents train up their children to become the salt of the earth and the light of the world and to hear God’s voice above all the competing voices vying for their attention.
"Whether you're expecting your first child or in the frontlines of the teen years, you will discover Salt, Light, & Kids to be an invaluable resource for your parenting journey."--CHRIS HODGES, NY Times bestselling author and Senior Pastor of Church of the Highlands, Birmingham, AL

Priority of His Presence Part 1 Passionate Worshippers
Before Jonathan's father was a pastor he was a Colombian guerrilla rebel fighter hired to assassinate an evangelist. As a young adult, Jonathan seriously contemplated suicide that ended with a major moment with God. Today, Jonathan leads worship at his father's church, assisted by his wife, Rebecca. They have three young children and want to live to serve God.
In this true story:
We did not have enough money for groceries. – Jonathan
Perfection is pressure. You have this pressure to be the perfect parent, the perfect mother, the perfect dad. I am going to try to be the best mom that I can be. But I’m not perfect. I’m human. I fail sometimes. But I do want them to take away that we love them. Sometimes you have to forgive yourself for the mistakes that don’t look as perfect as you would expect them to be. Have faith that God will finish the good work in your life. – Rebecca
God’s word says “His perfect love cast out all fear.” Jonathan
“You [Lord] came near on the day I called You. You said, ‘Do not fear.’’ Lamentations 3:57
In the middle of my anger, I have to ask God help me to communicate.’’ Jonathan
I have messed up sometimes…by ignoring. I have learned I do need to communicate and I need to learn to communicate in a wise way. – Jonathan
With kids you need to be patient, but not patient as the world teaches by doing nothing. Be purposeful in your patience. – Jonathan
My parents - we lived in Columbia. My dad was a guerrilla going to assassinate an evangelist. The evangelist said, ‘I believe there is someone here that is here to kill me.” My dad’s testimony is that he went up and everyone freaked out because he came and put his gun down and gave his life to the Lord. From then on his life turned completely around. His decision kind of paved the way for me and my whole family. Knowing all that background of my family made me realize, God can break barriers wherever we go with the priority of his presence. – Jonathan
We have all had that calling. We are passionate to share who God is and what God can do in your life if you just let Him. – Rebecca

"Jesus Revolution Movie" Chat with Producer Andy Erwin
“Kelsey Grammer (aka Frazier) said it was the most powerful thing he has ever been a part of.” – Andy Erwin, producer of the Jesus Revolution movie
Andy Ervin, top producer of #1 grossing independent film, I Can Only Imagine, has now come out with the Jesus Revolution movie that is taking the box office by storm. In this life and family chat, see clips of the movie. Hear Andy Erwin's thoughts on whether revival could be spreading across the United States and the world. The producers have prayed, worked and planned for years hoping this movie would spur a new Jesus Revolution in our time. A Jesus Revolution we can all be a part of.
The Jesus Revolution movie is the true story of a national spiritual awakening in the early 1970s and its origins within a community of teenage hippies in Southern California.
In the 1970s, young Greg Laurie (Joel Courtney) is searching for all the right things in all the wrong places: until he meets Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Roumie, Jesus from The Chosen), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher. Together with Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer aka Frazier), they open the doors of Smith’s languishing church to an unexpected revival of radical and newfound love, leading to what TIME Magazine dubbed a JESUS REVOLUTION.

Freedom In Christ Part 2
Freedom is found in many areas of life. With her parent's marriage struggling, Jihong felt she could not find real love and fell into a deep depression. She developed a long-time, life-threatening eating disorder that is very hard to cure called Bolemia. Her husband was told of her Bolemia on their third day of marriage. See his reaction. How did they find freedom?
(For shows and more subscribe at parentcompass.tv/subscribe)
“Cast your burden on the Lord and He will sustain you” Psalm 55:22a
In Part 2 you will hear:
I looked around to make sure no one was there. – Jihong
My teenage years was pretty intense. Deep inside there was such a void, I had to pretend to be this model kid. - Jihong
They hand out gospel tract with very simple cartoon pictures on it. – Jihong
That night I try to give God a chance. – Jihong
Probably three days after we got married, she woke me up and told me about a strange word, Bolemia. Maybe for a couple of days I don’t think that is a big deal. - Kaibin
Doctor told me, you could have died, because I was pretty severe type of Bolemia. - Jihong
He (Kaibin) said - We’re going to face this together. No matter how hard it is. - Jihong
I was told - If something is burden to you, ask for God’s help. - Kaibin
He was told - How about you live life for 30 days just like Christ is coming. - Jihong
So we lived those 30 days like Christ was coming back. We read the Bible. We prayed. We tried to trust in God everyday. Tried asking for strength. Unbelievable. The reason I could be cured was all because of God. - Jihong
Pretty much every day, we told each other that this is the last day to live. - Kaibin
Parental authority from God they respect, but whenever we abuse it, we apologize for it. - Kaibin
My objective for my children would be that I want them to be a genuine person. I want them to know Christianity is true in every area. So our family life is genuine. We can have genuine discussion. How I genuinely love her, how she respects and loves me that is observable to my children. - Kaibin
I think the biggest impact on my life for Christ is watching other people do so much and their passion. If these people are this devoted, then who is this God that they are searching after? I challenge my own faith and explore and that comes to my own conclusion that Christ is Savior. - Daniel
The number one that teenagers hate about their parents is hypocrisy. Be genuine. Let them see we are also human being. We try to be holy and that we are in the process. - Kaibin
From Part 1 – Watch on parentcompass.tv
Knowing nothing but Communism, Kaiben and Jihong both grew up in different parts of China. When they came to the U.S. separately to attend college, neither had any idea their lives would be so radically changed by a guy they had never heard about named Jesus! Abandoned by her husband during the pandemic, Rita was left with 9 kids. When an electrical issue burned down their house, they ended up homeless and with no transportation. Calling out to God with no one else to help, they are getting their life back as God has brought provision through His church and individuals.
At the end of my mom's marriage, nobody would wake me up on Sunday. So I would wake myself up and I would go to church.
A car came and it hit me, it just appeared.- I was dead and I heard a voice, ‘Is this what you want?'
I got into the world, drinking.
Lost everything, lost my car, my apartment.
I was going shelter to shelter. One of the shelters I was in gave me a lot of resources. I got my life back.
When I walked out of my home, there was an explosion.
The electrical exploded and my house catches on fire.
I can forgive him. I love him. I can not hold a grudge. - Rita
