Colossus: The Forbin Project
Classic Science Fiction from 1968 (released in 1970)
It is based upon the 1966 science-fiction novel Colossus by Dennis Feltham Jones.
The film is about an advanced American defense AI system, named Colossus, becoming sentient. After being handed full control, Colossus' draconian logic expands on its original nuclear defense directives to assume total control of the world and end all warfare for the good of humankind, despite its creators' orders to stop.
In 1980, the film was second in Cinefantastique's list of the top films of the decade, after The Exorcist and beating Alien.
Frederick S. Clarke, the magazine's editor, wrote that the film was "a superb adaptation of the D.F. Jones novel of world domination by a supercomputer, a perfect example that literate, thought-provoking science-fiction films need not be obscure, esoteric, or boring.
Wins: Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films: Golden Scroll of Merit, Stanley Chase, for theatrical motion picture production; 1979
Nominations: Hugo Awards: Hugo, Best Dramatic Presentation; 1971.
A remake was being being planned in 2007 but never got off the ground.
This film is definitely up there with 2001: A Space Odyssey, Planet of the Apes (original), Alien, Demon Seed and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

The Doors
1991
James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter and poet who was the lead vocalist and primary lyricist of the rock band the Doors. Due to his energetic persona, poetic lyrics, distinctive voice, erratic and unpredictable performances, along with the dramatic circumstances surrounding his life and early death, Morrison is regarded by music critics and fans as one of the most influential frontmen in rock history. Since his death, his fame has endured as one of popular culture's top rebellious and oft-displayed icons, representing the generation gap and youth counterculture.
(Interesting fact - Ten months before the death of Jim Morrison in Paris aged 27, Jimi Hendrix died in London on Sept 18 1970 aged 27 and Nine years after the death of Jim Morrison, John Lennon was murdered in New York on Dec 8 1980, Morrison's birthday)

Nikola Tesla said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” The very foundations of our Universe, of matter and thought, appear to lie in sound vibration.

LIZA MINNELLI PERFORMING MEIN HERR
Cabaret (1972)
Not only a musical masterpiece, a film that explores and shows the seedy and dark side of Berlin and the Nazis rise to power.
It was a play based on a novel by Christopher Isherwood who'd lived in Berlin at that time but what Fosse and the cast did with the film was AMAZING.
The performance is a masterpiece of Bob Fosse's camerawork and editing.
At the time of Cabaret, big musicals were going out of fashion with studios so it was almost a novelty that it did so well.
The background dancers clearly spent a lot of time on their craft, synchronization, and strength.
The original London production of Cabaret, which kicked off on Feb. 28, 1968 ran for 336 performances.
A performance on par with Gene Kelly and an umbrella.
Today, we don't see such things.

Black Joy (1977)
Set in 70's South London, a Guyanese immigrant is exposed to the highs and lows within the local Brixton community.
Although it was meant to be a gritty drama it came off more as a comedy and even inspired the later 70's TV series 'Empire Road', the later 90's cult Channel 4 comedy show series 'Get Up, Stand Up' as well as 'The Desmonds'.
It was entered into the 1977 Cannes Film Festival and the same year Bob Marley released his greatest single, 'Exodus'.
Directed by Anthony Simmons.
Starring Norman Beaton.

Spitting Image of Kate Middleton
Or perhaps should read...
'Spitting Image of the Late Middleton'
Popular speculation is that this is probably old footage of both Kate & William when he often wore a cap.
Kate has more flexibility in her stride and looks much younger, likely shot on an iPhone 3GS or Blackberry circa 2006 judging by the video resolution, absence of any children and the vehicles date from 2005.
It seems as if it was passed on intentionally and exclusively to the Sun and TMZ for public consumption.
Seems us peasants are almost as dumb as they are?

Space:1999 - Force of Life (S01 E02, 1975)
"Force of Life" is the second episode of the first series of Space:1999.
Considered by many fans to be one of the better story lines (apart from first episode, Breakaway and episode 4, War Games) in this classic Sci-Fi TV series by Gerry & Sylvia Anderson.
The second series, although still considered good was aimed more towards an American audience and had more of a StarTrek appeal where aliens seemed to have been inspired by Monster Munch.
This episode featured acclaimed British actor, Ian McShane.
The screenplay was written by Johnny Byrne.
The director was David Tomblin.
The original title was "Force of Evil".
The shooting script is dated 15 May 1974 and was aired in 1975 on LWT.
