Francine dumps heavy rain on Louisiana Gulf Coast | LiveNOW from FOX
#BreakingNews #LiveUpdate #FoxNews #news #TrendingNow
Francine slammed into the Louisiana coast Wednesday evening as a dangerous Category 2 hurricane that knocked out electricity to more than a quarter-million customers and threatened widespread flooding as it sent a potentially deadly storm surge rushing inland along the Gulf Coast. It has since been downgraded to a tropical storm.
Francine crashed ashore in Terrebonne Parish, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southwest of Morgan City, the National Hurricane Center announced at 4 p.m. CDT. Packing top sustained winds near 100 mph (155 kph), the hurricane then battered a fragile coastal region that hasn’t fully recovered from a series of devastating hurricanes in 2020 and 2021.
There were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries.
Power outages in Louisiana topped 261,000 hours after landfall, spread widely across southeast Louisiana. Blackouts affected the majority of homes and businesses in coastal parishes nearest where the storm came ashore as well as their inland neighbors, according to the tracking site poweroutage.us.

The Tennessean reported that Bon Jovi was filming a music video on the bridge, which remained open to the public during the shoot.
Video that was posted to YouTube but later removed showed the assistant talking to the woman. The Grammy-winning front man slowly approached, waved to the woman and joined in the conversation.
Eventually the woman turned around to face the two, and they helped her over the railing to safety. Bon Jovi talked to the woman and hugged her.

Trump on second debate: "We'll think about it" | LiveNOW from FOX
#FoxNews #BreakingNews #Election2024 #Trump #Biden #MAGA #Democrat #Republican
Former President Donald Trump answered questions about a second debate with Vice President Kamala Harris during a visit to Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. When asked if he would commit to a second debate, Trump said, "we'll think about it."
“When you win, you don’t really necessarily have to do it a second time, so we’ll see,” Trump said.
“I would do NBC, I would do Fox too, but right now we have to determine whether or not we ever want to do it,” he added.
The presidential debate in Philadelphia, between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Trump, saw a number of testy moments between the two candidates.
The debate was the first and possibly only debate between Harris and #Trump. The Harris campaign quickly said "Harris is ready for a second debate," but Trump said on Wednesday morning during a "Fox and Friends" interview that he "won the debate" and is "less inclined to" do another debate with #Harris.

In this capacity, Iken met regularly with civic, business, political and family leaders to help establish a proper process for honoring the lives that were lost on September 11, 2001. In addition, Iken has sought out the advice and support of families and groups around the world, including Oklahoma City and Hiroshima, who have undergone a similar memorial process. As a leading voice for the relatives of the victims killed on September 11, 2001. Iken is a frequent speaker at civic alliance meetings, regional planning gatherings and other symposiums dedicated to the memorial process.
In addition, Iken has been featured in prominent news media outlets including: CNN, PBS, Local News Stations, AP, Discovery, Radio, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, Reuters, The New York Observer, The New York Magazine, The San Jose Mercury News, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, Newsday and many more.

NEXT DEBATE: Trump and Harris discuss possibility of second debate
#FoxNews #BreakingNews #Election2024 #Trump #Harris #Biden #MAGA #Democrat #Republican
Former President Donald Trump sat down with Fox News' Sean Hannity after the debate Tuesday night, during which he praised his performance and suggested he would consider debating again if it was done on a "fair network."
"I had a good time, I think it was our best debate ever," Trump said, before slamming ABC and its moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, for being unfair. "We had three against one," Trump insisted.
Trump took Harris to task for "destroying our country" during the interview and noted it was intentional when he left his criticisms about Harris' job as vice president for his closing remarks. "She's complaining about all the stuff that's wrong about the country and she's been [in the White House] for three and a half years," Trump told Hannity. "And I wanted to save that for my last little summation."
When asked by Hannity if he was considering participating in a second-debate, which the Harris campaign signaled it was open to Tuesday night, Trump said "maybe."
"If it was on a fair network," he added.
Trump, meanwhile, compared Harris to a prize-fighter who just lost and wants a rematch.
“When you're a prize fighter and you lose you immediately want a new fight -- you want a rematch. The guy that won is sort of happy and thinking about it.”

Live recap and analysis of the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
Former President Trump and Vice President Harris led off the high-stakes presidential debate Tuesday with a discussion about the cost-of-living crisis and economic challenges Americans are facing.
The first faceoff between the two, held in Philadelphia and hosted by Disney-owned ABC News, kicked off with a question posed by moderator David Muir to Harris about whether Americans are better off than they were four years ago in terms of the economy and the cost of living under the Biden-Harris administration.
Vice President Harris said her economic plan is "about lifting up the middle class and working class of America" and wants to build an "opportunity economy" before discussing elements of her economic platform.
"We know that we have a shortage of homes and housing, and the cost of housing is too expensive for far too many people," Harris said. "We know that young families need support to raise their children, and I intend on extending a tax cut for those families of $6,000 — which is the largest child tax credit that we have given in a long time — so that those young families can afford to buy a crib, a car, but clothes for their children."
