Martin Gardner's Gambling Game
Martin Gardner's Gambling GameMartin Gardner's Gambling Game Here is a little known mathematical principle applied to card magic by Martin Gardner. The mathematical principle is called the Gilbreath Principle. Impossible to figure out and no sleight of hand. Preparation: (Which is done in private.) Remove all the diamonds from the deck and put them aside. The deck is stacked from the top down Spades, Hearts, Clubs, Spades, Hearts, Clubs, and so on. Put this 39 card deck FACE UP on the table. You can quickly show the cards without giving the order away. Tell the spectator to cut the deck near the middle, if the face card of the LOWER packet is a spade do not complete the cut. The spectator then riffle shuffles the two halves together., the deck is squared, and turned face down. Note: If the spectator does not cut to a spade, have them complete the cut, and cut again. When you see that the LOWER packet has a spade, proceed as above. You do not mention anything about cutting to a spade to the spectator!. Remember, have the spectator keep cutting the deck until they cut to a spade, and THEN have them riffle shuffle the halves together. Dealing: You tell the spectator that the cards will be dealt off the top of the deck three at a time. But before they do, you introduce the wager. ( Instead of money, you can wager beers, potato chips, or whatever. No need to wager money.) Now, ask the spectator to name 2 of the suits (No diamonds of course.) If he chooses Clubs and Hearts You say: For every pair of hearts (or clubs, if he chooses.), I get 25 cents. For every pair of spades, you get $1.00 If he chooses Spades and Hearts You say: For every pair of spades, I will give you a $1.00. For every pair of hearts, I get.25 cents. If he chooses Spades and Clubs You say: For each pair of spades, I will give you a $1.00. For each pair of clubs, I get.25 cents. Now you start. Say they choose spades, and you have clubs. Deal 3 cards off the top of the deck. If there are no matching suits in the group, toss aside. Continue dealing like this. If there are 2 clubs in the group, put this group in front of you. If there 2 spades in the group, put the cards in front of the spectator. Finish out the deck dealing in this method. The bet seems fair, but you will always win even if you give them 10000-1 odds. You will have to dress this effect up to suit your style, since it is not a "flashy" type effect. Puzzle is to remove your fingers without letting go of the peg. Nice puzzle for the bar. Interesting puzzle and I like, but can be improved by making conditions more complicated. Netherlands Translucent Erotic Playing Cards LATE 20TH CENTURY REPRODUCTION.
Netherlands Translucent Erotic Playing Cards LATE 20TH CENTURY REPRODUCTION. Beidermeier erotic translucent cards - vintage 1979 facsimile playing cards Almost impossible to find. It appears to be an ordinary pack of cards from France but when each of the 52 cards are held to the light they reveal explicit erotic scenes. These are reproductions of cards produced c1840 to 1860 in France and have been faithfully copied to the originals. Produced by Peter Mefferdt (Harry Kenter) Amsterdam 1979. An excellent reproduction of the original Beidermeier 1880 packs in a nice box. Quaint non-vulgar explicit erotic scenes when held to light. 52 cards complete as per original deck. Back of cards are plain cream/white color. Looking from our age of Internet-facilitated sexual freedom of expression these mid-nineteenth century French erotic playing cards were no doubt aimed to titillate if not actively arouse the libidinal forces of nature. On the other hand, they might be offensive to some viewers, even today. Very scarce and unique.

Chess Prediction Magic Trick.
Chess Prediction Magic Trick.
Chess Prediction Magic Trick You are trapped on a desert island and one day a powerful Genii appears. He asks you if you would like to play a game using chess pieces. If you win he will transport you off the island. Great you say. And if you lose, you will stay trapped on the island. And Oh yeah..you have to do his laundry every Tuesday for the rest of your life. The Genii says he has made a prediction on a piece of paper ( paper sticking out of bottle). You will follow random instructions on a card. You will decide where to move your token. When finished the prediction will be opened. If it matches you win. If not..oh well A prediction is placed in front of the player. The Genii shows you the board , pieces and token and hands you the move card. Follow the instructions. Good luck! 1. Place you token on any square with a black piece. 2. Move left or right and attack the nearest white piece. 3. Move up or down and attack the nearest black piece. 4. Move diagonally and attack the nearest white piece. 5. Move left or right and attack the nearest black piece. 6. Check the prediction. Secret: Just make sure you set the board up as shown and you are ready to go. Just predict the black knight and tell the story. An alternative presentation would be would be for the magician to have his or her back to the board, or be blindfolded, and call out the instructions. Magician pretends to get mental impressions to guide the token to the prediction. You just has to memorize the card or secretly read it. Also red and black playing cards can be used instead of chess pieces. Use the chessboard set up as a template and substitute red cards where there are white pieces. Trixk can be done over the internet. Have them set up the pieces like in the video. (Video from my confiscated YouTube channel)

Donald E. Knuth's Magic Bingo Cards. Magic Gambling Trick
Donald E. Knuth's Magic Bingo Cards.Magic Gambling Trick
Effect: The magician and a spectator each select a bingo card. The numbers 1 through 6 are randomly drawn without replacement, as in standard bingo. If a called number is on a card, it is marked with a coin. The first player to complete a HORIZONTAL row wins. Secret: The game is intransitive. The spectator picks his card first, and then the magician picks a card. According to Martin Gardner, card A beats card B,card B beats Card C, card C beats card D, and card D beats card A! So, A beats B beats C beats D beats A. If, for example,a 12 game match is played, the magician will win the majority of the 12 games. The intransitive nature of the cards is hidden, as opposed to intransitive dice. ( On dice, you can see if one die has higher numbers than the other. But these bingo cards, ????) Also, in actual performance, the cards would be secretly marked, so you know which card beats the other. Make sure cards are numbered exactly as shown. The problem is: What percentage advantage does card A have over card B? What percentage advantage does card B have over card C? And so on. A beats B, B beats D, D beats C, C beats A. In each of those four pairings, the better card wins with probability 7/15, loses with probability 13/30, and ties with probability 1/10.

The sailor on the front is in search of something, and by the look of his bizarre hand motions, it is NOT a drink. By unfolding the paper, the spectator is invited to try to find what the sailor is looking for. When solved, the spectator finds a tasteful picture of a topless women. Scotch Purse This old felt puzzle contains a marble or very small coin. The idea is to remove it from the “purse”. Very hard to find and a neat collector's item. (From my confiscated Youtube channel)

Here is an old method that you can use to control a card selected by a spectator to the top of the deck. You can also use it to set up the deck so you can cut to certain high cards. No sleights, but does require a small knack, or "feel". Deck can be shuffled if you do not disturb the small setup area. Fot entertainment purposes only! Demo of gambling top used to cheat people. Beware!
The top has close to a 90% win rate for the cheater
The cheat has to pay attention if the person is right handed or left handed. How to Play: 1The first spinner establishes the "Ante" amount to start a round. 2. Each player puts up an Ante. There can be any number of rounds to a game. 3.The "Ante" can be anything. An amount of money, tokens, clothing ( strip poker!), even livestock, use your imagination! 4. Any spinner can start a round of play. 5. The first player spins the top. If the top comes down "P" side uppermost the player puts into the pot the amount of Ante(s) indicated (i.e. Put one, two, three or All). For "AP" all players re-ante one into the pot. If the spinner lands with "Take" side uppermost the player takes the amount indicated from the pot. After spinning the player passes the top be re-started with a new Ante. 6. The Top can be passed in any direction as long as it maintains that same direction for the entire round. The markings on the top generally mean: T1 = The spinner takes one (1) Ante from the pot. T2 = The spinner takes two (2) Antes from the pot. T3 = The spinner takes three (3) Antes from the pot. P1 = The spinner Re-Antes one (1) into the pot. P2 = The spinner Re-Antes two (2) into the pot. P3 = The spinner Re-Antes three (3) into the pot. AP = The spinner and "All Players" Re-Ante one (1) into the pot. TA = The spinner "Takes All". That's how the honest game was played.

T. Nelson Downs Poker Deal
Effect: A boxed deck of cards is placed in front of a spectator. You show a strange ring that was supposed to belong to a famous riverboat gamble. ( Possibly the devil?) The ring is put on the spectator's pinkie finger. Ask the spectator how many poker hands they would like to deal. They can choose from 2 to 6 hands. Stress the free choice. Have them open the card box. They deal the cards and get the winning hand!
Secret: A very ingenious stacked deck is used. The stack was invented by famous sleight of hand artist T. Nelson Downs ( Born March 16, 1867 - Died September 11, 1938 ) The stack from the top of the deck down is as follows:
Suit key: S= Spades,C= Clubs,D= Diamonds, H= Hearts
Js, 7c, 8d, 9d, 10s, 6h, 7h, 8c, 9s, 10d, 6s, 7d, 8h, 9c, 10h, 6d, 7s, 8s, 9h, 10c, Jh, Ad, 2s, 4h, 3h, 6c, Qd, 5d, 4s, 5h, Ah,... and the rest of deck.
Ask the spectator how many hands that they would like to deal. He can choose from 2 to 6 hands. The cards are dealt like in a normal poker game, the dealer being dealt last.
If he chooses 2 hands: You state; That's 10 cards. Deal off the top 10 cards from the deck into a face down heap ( Which secretly reverses their order). The spectator deals 2 poker hands with these cards and gets the best hand. Dealing procedure: A card to ( Imaginary) player 1, a card to the dealer, a card to player 1, a card to the dealer, etc.
If he chooses 3 hands: You state: That's 15 cards. Deal off the top 15 cards from the deck into a face down heap.( Which secretly reverses their order). The spectator deals 3 poker hands with these cards and gets the best hand.
If he chooses 4 hands: You state: That's 20 cards. Deal off the top 20 cards from the deck into a face down heap ( Which secretly reverses their order.) The spectator deals 4 poker hands with these cards and gets the best hand.
If he chooses 5 hands: Don't reverse count the cards. Just deal out 5 poker hands. I.E...A card to player 1, a card to player 2, a card to player 3, a card to player 4, a card to the dealer, a card to player 1, a card to player 2,etc.
If he chooses 6 hands: You state: Burn the top card as in a real poker game ( The top card is discarded.) Then say that's 30 cards.Deal off the top 30 cards from the deck into a face down heap ( Which secretly reverses their order.) The spectator deals 6 poker hands with these cards and gets the best hand.
A false cut and shuffle before the trick would not hurt, but I rather not touch the deck.
Make sure you stress that they have a free choice of how many hands to deal. Also, you can deal the cards instead of the spectator if you think there is a chance the person will try to " mess up " the trick. But having the spectator deal is VERY strong.
For the ring, buy some cheap, interesting ring from an occult supply shop. The stranger looking, the better. Weave an interesting story around the ring to make the trick more entertaining. Don't do the effect without some type of story. Add whatever you want to suit your personality and style.
If you like this stack, Charle's Jordans best Card Tricks has a lot of unique methods and tricks probably forgotten by todays magicians.
