The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government responsible for the civil space program, aeronautics research, and space research. NASA's objective is to pave the way for future space exploration, scientific discoveries, and aeronautics research. For more than 50 years, thousands of people have worked throughout the world and in space to answer some basic questions. What exists in space? How are we going to get there? What will we discover? What can we learn there – or even by attempting to travel there – that will improve our lives here on Earth?
