Guest's bio:
I have loved God and the Bible for as long as I can remember. I was seven years old when my daddy built me a wooden pulpit. I put on my plaid three-piece wool suit on a snowed-in Sunday to deliver a message on obedience to my family in the living room. Then, one day as this wonderful invention showed up at our house–a VCR–I picked up a flair for the theatrical as I would rewind and rehearse lines from the likes of “Anne of Green Gables.” The love of communication in writing, speaking, theater, and sharing compelling stories has always run deep for me. It’s funny how you can trace those traits way back even to your childhood.
Little did I know that language and expression that I loved the most would be whisked away from my only son, leaving me wounded and speechless before my God. An autism diagnosis at age two for our little boy, Josiah, was so swift, so final, with the words, “No known cause. No known cure. Lifelong.” My deepest question was, “Wow, what happens to hope when there is no hope?” Everything that I loved, believed in, and thought I knew about God got tested. If Jesus was a Burden-Bearer, I knew somehow I would have to see if He would be that for me when the pressure of sickness, work, marriage, loneliness, finances, and spiritual wrestling dog-piled on our lives.
Like so many things—impossible things—we are told to accept them and to learn to manage and to cope. The world is always trying to get us to just face facts and not to get our hopes up. “Your daughter is dead, Jairus. Why bother the teacher anymore?” But just when the facts start to get locked in as the “final answer,” if we listen hard enough, we will always hear Jesus say the same words He said to this dented father: “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” Does the same Jesus we serve today still sound like this?
It’s a complex road these days to a simple faith like this: don’t fear; just believe. I’d been desperately pursuing healing for five years and learned so much about what intimacy with God, my identity in Christ, and my inheritance really meant to live out a Christ-following life. But despite our gallant efforts to help our son, my boy still was “severe,” nonverbal, stuck in the quicksand of autism. Life seemed frustrating.
And then, one day, something finally happened! The striving started leaving and peace settled in. Psalm 68:9 happened. “You, God, sent a plentiful rain, and did confirm your inheritance when it was weary.” After praying and praying, “Lord, let it be on earth, just like it is in Heaven,” I was given a rare opportunity to see the veil between Heaven and earth get very thin as my son unexpectedly typed his first sentence on his iPad, “God is a good gift giver.”
That message started what has been now hundreds of stored, typed pages of Josiah’s conversations with me. They have revealed him as a wise, funny little guy who can write beautiful poetry and lyrics and has been given access into the heart of God that he has never been taught on this earth. Josiah’s words on an iPad have told of God’s unfolding love for us, His ways, His instruction, and even strategies for victory over the enemy. Truly, as we wait for the full reality of Josiah’s healing, we have seen the kingdom of God come near us through a boy who had no voice, but shouted RESTORE! Lord, may our story give You glory. You truly are a good gift-giver!

Resurrected by Faith: The Extraordinary Journey of Steffani Besch | EP 123
In today's most compelling episode, we delve into the miraculous account of Steffani Besch, now a seasoned minister, but who as a young girl endured an extraordinary incident that defied all rational explanation.
At a local swimming pool on an ordinary summer day in 1979, 13-year-old Steffani embarked on what all expected to be a fun-filled afternoon with friends. However, fate took an unforeseen turn when Steffani was accidentally knocked unconscious and sank to the bottom of the pool. Unnoticed by anyone around, it wasn't until several agonizing minutes later that her absence was realized.
As panic set in, Steffani's friends and pool-goers frantically pulled her lifeless body from the water. By the time medical assistance arrived and she was transported to the hospital, she had been clinically dead for an astounding 30 minutes. To all appearances, her young life had slipped away, leaving those around her in disbelief and profound sorrow.
But in this dark moment of desperation, faith took center stage. Amidst the tears and prayers, one friend, driven by an unwavering belief, called on the name of Jesus in desperate supplication. The power of this heartfelt plea ignited a chain of events that would rewrite the rules of science and medicine.
Inexplicably, as doctors and paramedics continued their efforts, Steffani Besch's heart began to beat once again, as if the hands of time had reversed themselves. Against all odds, she was brought back from the brink, defying medical logic and leaving experts utterly astonished.
In this gripping podcast, we explore the astonishing details of Steffani's near-death experience, the profound impact on those who witnessed this surreal event, and the lasting repercussions on her life and faith.
Join us as we unravel the threads of this mesmerizing journey, reflecting on the potential of faith to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Taking Risks Put Us In Constant Dependence On The Lord | EP 122
Wendie and Todd both traveled to San Diego, CA recently, and while there caught up with Justin Maina, a self-described "fear hunter" (see a link to our interview with Justin below).
Justin led us on an adventure that would strike legitimate fear into most people - us included. But we made it through okay, and the entire experience made us think about how we're so often driven by fear when calculating risks in our lives.
We asked ourselves questions like:
Why do we so often assume the absolute worst is going to happen when making decisions?
If we're making a decision believing God will have our back, is it really a risk at all?
How can we strengthen our faith in God so that some of the natural fear we experience when making decisions will dissipate a bit?
We decided to sit down and record a podcast for you all on this topic. We hope you enjoy it, and come away from it encouraged in God's ability to deliver us from that which we fear when we walk trusting in Him.
In this episode you'll discover:
00:00 Welcome to Your Biggest Breakthrough
00:36 Introduction
01:15 Risky adventure: Kayaking and paddleboarding in La Jolla
06:05 Biblical example: Joshua and Caleb's faith and risk-taking
09:00 What is God showing you regarding the risk you're taking?
12:45 We tend to go to the negative things when weighing outcomes
17:00 Fear is rooted in not trusting God to deliver you from your trial

How Our Rituals and Awareness of Our Need for Jesus Change When Apart From Our Loved Ones | EP 117
In 1 Thes. 2:17-19, Paul shares how his absence from the believers in that area of the world made him - and them - long for each other's physical presence.
While an absence from a loved one can be uncomfortable, even painful in certain circumstances, the adage "absence makes the heart grow fonder" rings true. While we all need a proper amount of time to ourselves, it is the absence of the ones we love that makes us truly appreciate the time we have with them.
In today's episode, Todd and Wendie share how their brief separation while Wendie is attending a health summit has affected each of their daily routines and rituals, and how being apart makes them long to be with each other again!
In this short solosode with Todd and Wendie, you'll learn:
00:00 Welcome to Your Biggest Breakthrough
03:30 We change our habits and ways when we're apart from loved ones
05:45 Separations from familiar surroundings can remind us of our dependence on God
10:40 Complete, total control over the schedule leads to increased productivity for Todd
15:15 Clarity is given to our priorities when we are separated from certain people or surroundings
20:40 The big takeaway from today's podcast
And more...

Jeremiah 29:11...In Heavy Metal Format with Benny DiChiara | EP116
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
This familiar scripture is the rallying cry for our guest in today's episode. Benny DiChiara suffered a TBI (traumatic brain injury) in 2015. No one knows exactly what caused him to lose consciousness and hit his head when he fell. But it put him in his place and gave him time to rest and think about what he really should be doing with his life.
After hearing a call (literally) to form a new band, he wrote the lyrics for a song based on Jeremiah 29:11. Empowered has proven to be immensely popular with the youth, and shares God's love through their music.
And although Benny lost his sense of taste in the aftermath of his fall in 2015, he certainly didn't lose his zany sense of humor, as you'll hear in this episode!
In this episode with Benny, you'll learn:
00:00 Welcome to Your Biggest Breakthrough
00:43 Introduction
03:00 The "incredible accident" brought a new awareness of God's grace
11:15 God spoke to Benny while recovering from his accident
17:11 How a lifetime church attender finally found a personal relationship with Jesus
25:03 Understand the real story of those who appear to be "successful"
28:00 The story behind Benny's new album Yahweh Nissi
34:35 "If people don't feel Jesus when we're performing, we need to just quit"
37:20 How Benny got involved with Children's Cup ministries
42:00 One thing about Benny most people don't know
And much more...

Benny DiChiara is not fragile, yet he understands the fragility of life. He is not lost, but he knows the aimless paths of those who wander. He is not a victim, but he has experienced life-saving salvation from the inside out. His world has been shaken, but his feet are planted firmly on the strongest of foundations. And even as he faced an abyss of the unknown, he never did so alone.
In October 2015, the singer, songwriter, businessman, motivational speaker, father, and husband endured a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that placed his life and future in peril. A fall sent him to the emergency room and ICU with a concussion and a closed fracture of the skull base with subarachnoid, subdural, and extradural hemorrhage. The catastrophic injury could have easily ended his life or, at the least, compromised the quality of it.
"I absolutely remember nothing from the first month after my injury," he shares. "It's just gone. Once I started to come out of it, there were memory gaps, speech issues, and walking issues. Everything looked surreal."
The battle for his life and mind was not easy or quick. Amid the struggle, though, he clung to the knowledge that the battle for his heart had already been won.
"I liken the experience to someone who is just lost, who feels like they cannot find their way," he shares. "You have no answers. But then there's Jesus."
Hand-in-hand with his Savior, DiChiara not only defied medical odds; he discovered and plumbed the depths of burgeoning creative inspiration that merged into the most recent EP from his band, Empowered, entitled Three Days.
"As I recovered, the injury did not affect my ability to make music," he shares. "I was afraid I would lose that gifting. Instead, He has elevated that gift."
God not only restored and magnified DiChiara’s musical gifts, but He also provided backup through the latest iteration of Benny’s band, Empowered. Shane Madere Jr. wears multiple hats as the lead guitarist, backing vocalist, and co-leader. Jeff Maddox, the youngest member, is a prodigy on bass, while also lending his vocals to the mix. Mic Capdeville consistently blows audiences away as a killer percussionist with crazy vocal chops. The group is rounded out by another stand-out talent, Justin Burdette, who simply shreds it on strings.
Their talent, alongside DiChiara’s resolve and new insight, coalesced and put to song the miracle of salvation, the joy of purpose, and the unshakable, unequivocal victory that Christ claimed when He rose on the third day.

Early in life, he showed a keen interest in literature, reading many of the classics while still in grade school and cherishing the ambition that one day he would become a writer. He entered Harvard University in 1971, majoring in English literature, intent on making his mark as a poet and novelist. A growing interest in photography and filmmaking, however, led him to transfer to New York University where he changed majors and graduated with a BFA in Film and Television in 1976. He later attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California where he received his MFA in Film in 1989.
Cristóbal founded Messenger Films in 1988 and has worked as a writer/director of film and television ever since, helming productions in more than twenty countries. There is Life Beyond Addiction with Craig Brown | Episode 113
God never wastes our pain, says our guest on today's episode.
Craig Brown grew up masking deep inner pain. Always pressured to put on the face of "the perfect family," Craig lacked an outlet to express the pains and insecurities that all children experience. The turn to drugs in 1980's Washington D.C. was not a surprising one in hindsight.
After breaking free of his shame, addiction, and hyper-focus on self, Craig focuses on helping Christians look beyond the superficial smiles they see at Sunday services. To be more aware of the struggles that we all face, and how to go beyond a 12-step sobriety program, but to seek spiritual renewal.
In this interview with Craig, you'll hear:
00:00 Introduction
04:15 Craig operated in a pit of darkness before confronting his fears
09:10 You'll never change until your pain is greater than your fear of changing
14:15 Your entire life structure is focused on self when battling addiction
17:15 Go to church to heal, not to hide
19:30 How to become more aware of the struggles behind the smiles you see every Sunday at church
23:50 We need to have the courage to be a safe space for those dealing with mental health issues
27:00 Recognize darkness and depression in those among you and take the action they need

Inside the Spiritual Revival Occurring in an Longtime Islamic Stronghold | Dr. Hormoz Shariat| EP112
Our guest on today's episode has been called the "Billy Graham of Iran" by Joel Rosenberg.
Dr. Hormoz Shariat grew up in a Muslim household in Iran, and found himself wondering "what does all this mean?" They recited the prayers day after day, yet there was no inward stirring.
Hormoz got a bitter taste of what the Islamic religion is capable of by a government that embraces it as its official religion when his brother was murdered by the regime two years after being jailed for what would be regarded as a misdemeanor crime in America.
Rather than despising his brother's murderers, Hormoz used the power of his faith in Jesus to minister to his fellow Iranians through live broadcasts on state-sponsored television stations.
This interview will inspire you to take action in the face of overwhelming evil - and to acknowledge the true source of evil in this world, showing mercy toward those who are misled into doing Satan's deeds.
We invite you to scroll down a bit and see how you can get a copy of Hormoz's book Iran's Great Awakening, and receive text updates on what is going on with the Iran Alive ministries!
In this interview with Hormoz, you'll learn:
00:00 Introduction
06:10 Family Life in Iran and finding Jesus in an Islamic Culture
08:30 The moment Hormoz found Jesus through "researching" Jesus
13:30 A janitor at Hormoz' wife's work leads both of them to Jesus, and saves their marriage
15:21 So many Muslims are indifferent to religion in general - but it is a vibrant spiritual life
18:45 Hormoz answers the call to minister to Muslims
21:10 Why Hormoz loves Muslims, in spite of atrocities committed by the Islamic government of Iran
25:45 The "logical" reason Muslims are so resistant to Christianity

About our guest:
Dr. Hormoz Shariat is the founder of Iran Alive Ministries, which utilizes satellite TV to broadcast Christian programming to a potential audience of 130 million in Iran and the Middle East. Dr. Shariat has been called “the Billy Graham of Iran,” by best-selling American Israeli author, Joel Rosenberg.
Iran Alive uses modern technology to share the Gospel, train believers, and fuel a discipleship-making movement. Dr. Shariat’s ministry broadcasts life-giving messages 24/7 to some of the darkest regions of the world, spreading the gospel of Christ to oppressed Islamic-run Iran. Where it is illegal to gather for a Christian church service, the 24/7 broadcast steps in, connecting and discipling the underground Church. Dr. Shariat has an audience of an estimated 6 million daily viewers (and 20 million weekly viewers) of his satellite program in Iran.
With call centers, their 4:12 training school, college discipleship, Bible smuggling, and more — the ministry supports the movement of God in Iran. Iran’s population is about 84 million people and only about 2 million people identify as Christians. The church in Iran is one of the most persecuted in the world due to severe governmental restrictions on practicing Christianity. No church gatherings are permitted in Iran. Bibles are prohibited and difficult to find in Iran. Hopelessness and despair have caused the suicide rate and drug addictions to skyrocket.
As a solution, Iran Alive Ministries provides:
Evangelism: Satellite TV allows for 24/7 broadcasts of Gospel messages, biblical teachings, and Christian content across Iran and other Farsi-speaking regions like Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
Discipleship: The 4:12 Discipleship School provides teaching, and training, and mobilizes new Iranian believers for the work of ministry.
Community: Iran Alive connects new believers to underground house churches and online churches in Iran.
Bible Distribution: Bibles are smuggled and distributed to believers through the underground church network.
Dr. Shariat has been doing ministry among Muslim-born Iranians as a Muslim background believer for the last 40 years. Iran Alive Ministries was birthed 22 years, ago and is using modern technology to share the Gospel, train believers, and fuel a discipleship-making movement in Iran. Thousands of Iranians come to Christ each year through this ministry. In his book, “Iran's Great Awakening” Dr. Shariat shares his spiritual journey out of Islam to Christianity, Biblical prophesies about Iran, and the strategies to transform a nation like Iran.

A Clarion Call to "Get Your Brave On" When Life Kicks You In the Teeth with Amanda Carroll | EP 107
Divorce. It's the last thing any married person wants to hear or consider. Yet, it's sometimes inevitable. The other party sometimes just loses interest in the other person and loses sight of the vision they once had for their marriage.
What are you to do?
Amanda Carroll's former husband told her one night he was leaving her and their three children. Her response? "We're out of milk." Survival mode kicked into high gear; her first and only thought was the welfare of her children - and they were out of milk.
Suddenly the unthinkable was reality: starting over with the shame of divorce hanging over her head, all the while finding success in one of the top media markets in the U.S.
But rather than being judged and shamed by her superiors, she found grace and willingness to help. Amanda reframed her thinking. Rather than being "that woman" who is salvaging an identity from a failed marriage, she was given the opportunity to start fresh with her life - right when most of her peers are in the middle of theirs, sometimes in their own unhappy marriages.
We hope that in listening to our conversation with Amanda Carroll, you'll come away encouraged and energized, ready to "Brave Life" and kick those sorrows in the teeth!
In this episode, you'll learn:
06:00 Amanda's early faith journey
11:00 Providential leap to prominence in the #4 media market in the U.S
14:45 Survival mode in the midst of a personal crisis
19:12 Grace, not judgment, is shown at the darkest hour
22:30 Reorienting during an unexpected "pit stop" in life
28:45 Landing the dream job by a miracle
32:15 How women can "get their brave on" by improving by 1% each day
38:00 Putting God into your life when you don't know how things will work out
40:23 How to connect with Amanda's Brave community
And much more!

Amanda Carroll is an entrepreneur and founder of the Brave Podcast Network. She created her own platform, Get Your Brave On, to inspire women to live strong and courageous life. She accomplishes that through her podcast, website, online community, online courses, and growing TikTok following @bravesinglemoms with 35,000 followers.
She is formerly a nationally syndicated radio host. Throughout her career, she has walked through the doors of major Christian radio stations and networks such as K-LOVE, 89.3 KSBJ-Houston, and WGTS 91.9 in Washington, DC.
Amanda adopted the phrase "Get Your Brave On" ten years ago when she became a single mother of 3. At the time her children were 4, 2, and 8 weeks old. A year later her personal hashtag propelled her forward, and she was able to rebuild her life, move across the country, and start her dream job...all before her oldest started kindergarten.
She also loves to lift heavy at the gym, cycle, and has a side gig as a "professional spectator" cheering on her athletic teenagers from the sidelines.
