We all have what we perceive as "flaws." Maybe our skin isn't perfect, or our bodies aren't aging as gracefully as we would like. Maybe we're procrastinators, or obsessive personalities. Perhaps we "lack backbone" to stand up for ourselves. I know I'm a slow processor. I like taking time to process answers, paperwork, phone calls. It's one of the reasons why I automate most of my business! However, let me let you in on a secret. Your flaws make you UNIQUE. And your flaws make you YOU. You lack boundaries because you love hard and deeply. You want to make others happy. You procrastinate because you want the project to be perfect, so you wait until the last minute, so you don't have that extra time to mess it up. Your obsessive personality can be your superpower if you can harness it and use it in a healthy way. And your body flaws? You are perfect just the way you are. I remember having a friend who had a dog. She had just gotten out of an abusive relationship and stayed over with her pet dog... and I remember the things she was saying to her dog... When we see others do something exciting, we sometimes feel jealous. Maybe we feel like... I want that too... when is my time? But when you are genuinely happy for someone, it's a beautiful feeling. And not only are you telling those who achieve great things to keep up the good work... you're letting Universe know that you want more good things to celebrate! And Universe will deliver. As hard as it is sometimes, you just have to keep your chin up and KNOW that good is coming for you, too. And trust that the next step and the next step and the next step are guiding you right where you need to be. The easiest way to relax into knowing what you want is coming for you is to think of what it is you want as planting a seed. You plant the seed in the dirt every time you are sparked into wanting something. But instead of getting impatient for the tree to bear fruit overnight, we know and understand that the seed has to grow. It has to break the earth. It has to grow into a strong foundation of stalk and stem... the leaves have to unfurl... the flowers have to blossom... and then, just as if it were overnight, fruit appears... but it doesn't happen overnight, right?? So why is it that you can't have that kind of grace with others... and yourself? :) Creating a plan to KNOW what you can do to feel better, so when you DON'T feel good, you already know what you're going to do for yourself so you CAN feel better. Does it look like coming across crazy? As coming across selfish? To be clear and honest... YES. It comes down to choosing YOU over others, and as someone who has been a serial people pleaser her whole life, and worried about what others think, this is probably the most FREE I've felt. I'm doing ME, for ME. I'm choosing ME. Even if I have to tell a client that we are no longer a good fit. I'd rather her have the time and money to work with someone who can help her heal, because her pain was keeping her stuck. When we choose to keep our pain, love our pain, nurture our pain, instead of our growth... it's like trying to grow a dying animal. You can talk to it and try to convince it to heal all you want, but if give it water... clean and wrap its wounds, but it doesn't have the spirit in it to live... it won't live, no matter what you do. Sometimes, giving it a safe and comfortable place to heal can cause it to bounce back stronger... but it has to have that desire to fight within it. So when I let my client go... I was honoring herself AND myself... I'm not going to continue to try to nurture a critter who doesn't want to heal. And I pointed her in a few directions that might be better suited. When you stand for yourself, you stand for your boundaries, you are also doing a favor for the other person. No one else is going to choose you every single time. They can't. It's not reasonable or healthy to expect it. But that's why it's so important to know what you want, be clear on what you want out of your life, your job, your home, your relationships, because it allows you to say today, "I choose me." And choose to heal EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. That's where Sacred Life Comes in... creating a plan to KNOW what you can do to feel better, so when you DON'T feel good, you already know what you're going to do for yourself so you CAN feel better. Get ready for your daily dose of love and caffeination! ******************************************************************************** Codependency is defined as "a psychological construct involving an unhealthy relationship that people might share with those closest to them.- Positivepsychology.com. 5 Factors leading to co-dependency can include (per postivepsychology.com) 1. Lack of love and nurturing 2. Rejection and abandonment 3. Family addiction 4. Physical, emotional or sexual abuse 5. Mental or physical illness There's so much to unwrap in this topic... but one thing I want you to know is that all of these, while all these factors leading to it are unable to change, you DO have the ability to change the way you think about them. We get stuck in telling our story from the point of victimhood, of how we suffered and grew into patterns of distrust, not enoughness, people-pleasing. The truth of it is that we DON'T have to stay there. It will take time. And effort on your part. But your life won't change until you make the decision to heal. And choose to heal EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
