I made a reaction video to this because I believe that it is a dangerous way to go about losing weight. While you would still lose weight if you can attain a caloric deficit, the quality of the calories that you consume also matters. Desserts are low quality calories since they don't hold any nutritional value and therefore, cosuming them on a regularly basis could actually lead to long term health problems.
