https://www.meetup.com/Power-BI-Community-Times
Power BI Community Times in South Florida 2022 welcomes back Reza Rad to talk about RLS!
# Row-Level Security Patterns in Power BI
Security is different from Sharing; Sharing is about sharing the entire content with others; security is about authorizing different views of the content to others. In this session, we will go through many different Row Level Security patterns. Patterns such as Static Row Level Security, Dynamic Row Level Security, and many variations of the dynamic RLS, such as giving manager access as well as employee access, you will learn about user profile security scenarios and hierarchical access levels. This session shows you how DAX and Power BI security comes together to play an important part in a Power BI project lifecycle: Row Level Security.

Attendees will have the opportunity to actively engaged and participate.
For our first Talk we welcome Benni De Jagere from Belgium, to discuss what you need to know about Power BI Administration, Tenant Configurations, Licensing, and related.
About Benni De Jagere:
Benni is a Program Manager in the Power BI Customer Advisory Team at Microsoft. Aspiring to be top notch in his field, through continuous personal development, on both technical and soft skills. He strives for maximum results in his projects using team play, communication, thinking outside of the box, and (endless) motivation. Benni is always ready to tackle the unknown, or pick up fresh ideas to broaden his range. Building on past experiences, he continuously tries to find new, more efficient ways of obtaining results, and improving the process along the way.
Loving (almost) every day of it, he’s fascinated by the value of data, sometimes flabbergasted by the lack of awareness, and intrigued by the endless possibilities whilst discovering new ways of looking at data. He thrives on unfolding new insights for customers whilst using an open and transparent communication.
On a daily basis he turns (large amounts) of coffee into insights for customers, and references witty British comedy, lame dad jokes, and obscure facts way too often. Overly enthusiastic about anything data related, he’s trying hard to keep up with all things new and shiny.
When not working, blogging or reading, you’ll likely find him out and about being his weird self. Rumour has it that he’s also involved with a ragtag band of data enthusiasts, enjoying themselves whilst organising cool community things.
They go by the name of .. dataMinds!

DAX Filter Context in 1 hour
Understanding evaluation contexts is the key to understand DAX and to start thinking in DAX. In this session we will start from the basics of evaluation context and explain in depth the role of filter context and row context in DAX expressions, providing several examples of formulas where following the flow of contexts in the correct way is mandatory to make a sense out of the numbers computed.
At the end of the session you will have a clearer idea of the importance of evaluation context and you will probably look at your DAX code in a different way.

Choosing the Right Connection Type for Power BI

If you're looking for Power BI learning resources, and you haven't come across Radacad blog yet, you should definitely look into it!
From Radacad.com/blog:
Every Connection type has some advantages and disadvantages.
One connection type is suitable for smaller datasets, one for big, one connection type is useful for better flexibility, the other for not needing the scheduled refresh, etc.
Choosing the connection type is one of the decisions that should be made at the beginning. Otherwise, you might end up with a lot of re-work.
