Skydiving in Thailand - 55 and Still Alive
For my birthday this year, Katae and I bought us a pair of one-way plane tickets. Yes, we got to take off and cruise at 13,000ft (about 4KM) but we had to make our own way back down to earth. Fortunately we had some assistance from the DropZone posse in Rayong.
Never be afraid to live your life, whatever your age. #fullyalive

Can Kratom Trees Be Grown from Seed #kratom
Can Kratom Trees Be Grown from Seed #kratom
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/can-kratom-trees-be-grown-from-seed/
Kratom trees are a tropical evergreen that is native to Southeast Asia and is now listed a legal herb in Thailand.
They can be grown from seed but the germination rate is very low, somewhere between 10% and 20%.
The best way to grow a kratom tree - Mitragyna speciosa is taking a cutting from the original tree and wait for it to grow roots.
A kratom plant needs plenty of light, water, and good drainage. If you live in a colder climate and plan on growing kratom plants indoors, they also need to be kept at room temperature (or warmer).
Instead of trying to grow kratom from seed, you can use root cuttings or buy starter plants from nurseries or specialty stores. This will save you a lot of time if you don’t want to go through the process of planting seeds yourself to see if they grow.

https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/butterfly-pea-seeds/
What are the Benefits of Growing Blue Butterfly Pea seeds?
Butterfly pea is a flowering plant that is native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. How to Grow Butterfly Pea from Seeds
Seeds of the butterfly pea plant can be found in pods, similar in appearance to a bean. Butterfly pea seeds grow quickly and can be transplanted into flower pots or garden beds after six weeks. But before you start planting your own butterfly pea plants, it is important to know about the plant's growing requirements.
The butterfly pea plant requires well-draining soil. It is important to know that the butterfly pea plant can withstand partial shade, but will not tolerate full shade. The butterfly pea plant also needs composted soil and a continuous supply of moisture in order to thrive.

The butterfly pea vine is a beautiful addition to any garden or landscape and grows well on a fence or over an arbour. If they receive plenty of sunlight, warmth, and moisture, they will thrive.
Blue butterfly peas can be found growing wild on roadsides or in gardens in Thailand with an abundance of sunlight. When harvesting the flowers they should be plucked while still fresh so they do not wilt or turn brown before drying them out completely. The best time to harvest them is just before they bloom or when they have just bloomed.
Dry the flowers out on a clean surface in a warm, dry place for approximately 1 week. Ensure that they are completely dry before using them to make tea as damp flowers will burn when steeped in boiling water! Store your dry butterfly pea in a container with an airtight lid.

How to Plant Okra Seeds: The Easiest Way to get Great Results
How to Plant Okra Seeds: The Easiest Way to get Great Results
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/planting-okra-seeds/
Okra is biologically classified as a fruit, but generally used like a vegetable.
It’s a popular food in many cultures across the world. It's usually served as a vegetable, but it can also be used as a main ingredient in soups and stews.
Okra is also known as lady fingers, bhindi and is a type of plant that belongs to the mallow family.
The plants are often grown for their edible green fruit pods and seeds, which are known as okra pods or okra seeds.
Okras grow best when they're planted during the spring season and in warm climates. They need at least six hours of sunlight each day to grow well, so make sure you plant them where there is plenty of sunlight! Dill and tomatoes are great companion plants for okra as all require around six hours of sunlight a day.
Okra is a very versatile plant. The leaves are cooked and eaten as a vegetable either steamed or stir-fried. The pods can be eaten raw, boiled or also fried. They can also be pickled and used in salads.
The pods have an intense flavour that's often described as having a "spicy" taste. Do you like spicy?
Are you saving okra seeds? This video will also cover how to dry okra seeds and how to save okra seeds for the next season

Avoid These 7 Common Shipping Container Home Mistakes
Avoid These 7 Common Shipping Container Home Mistakes
We’ve been living on and off grid in a shipping container home for over six years. Here’s a few things to consider if you are planning on building a shipping container house or if you are going to DIY it.
It is not possible to build a container house from every shipping container. With rising construction costs and more people becoming environmentally conscious, the general misconception that any container can be used for a container home is misleading.
In addition to being a sustainable building trend, shipping containers are also becoming a cost-effective alternative for residential home construction.
In this video, we present to you the top seven mistakes to avoid before building a shipping container home. If you love shipping containers or are exploring the possibility of building your own, stay tuned to find out the do's and don'ts of building your dream home from shipping containers.
Please subscribe to our channel for more videos on shipping container homes, off-grid living, and permaculture.
7. Selecting the Wrong Shipping Containers
When building a shipping container home, people often make the mistake of purchasing the wrong type of container. Shipping containers are different from each other. A majority of people who don't know the difference build their homes using regular shipping containers. This is in addition to the twenty foot and 40 foot regular shipping containers that are available in high cubed containers.
High cube containers are nine foot six inches tall, whereas regular shipping containers are eight foot six inches high. The extra foot on high cube containers is ideally suited for insulating ceilings without impairing headroom. The high-cube container costs slightly more than the regular one, but considering its benefits, it's worth it.

Emotional and Spiritual Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao
Emotional and Spiritual Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao
Ceremonial Cacao - Anarchy Chocolate
No, we aren’t talking about industrialised commercial chocolate made by Mars, Hershey’s or Kraft, or any other company that load their confectionaries with milk, sugar, fat and who knows what. It has been shown that the more cacao is processed, the more of its goodness is lost.
So, what we’re talking about here is 100% cacao beans ground down to become ‘cacao liquor,’ which has historically been known for its numerous health benefits supporting physical and psychological well-being.
Emotional and Spiritual Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao
The cacao ceremony benefits are many. As a powerful plant medicine, cacao has a wide range of health and psychological benefits. Plant Medicine helps us release emotional blockages that no longer serve us, find forgiveness in ourselves and others. These are the benefit of a sacred cacao ceremony.
It also shows us the way forward when we are stuck or afraid of making necessary changes in our lives. As a result, we can gain access to buried emotions, conditionings, patterns of behaviour, and addictions.
Mesoamerican and South American cultures, including the Mayans and Aztecs, have always considered cacao to be a powerful aphrodisiac, exotic food, and medicine. The ceremonial cacao recipe hasn't changed since these times.
The Greek name for cacao is Theobroma Cacao, literally meaning ‘Food of the Gods‘, Thea (god), Broma (food), with the Maya word Ka’kau.
The neurotransmitter modulating agents found in cocoa act as natural antidepressants. Due to its high valeric acid content, it inhibits stress hormones while releasing dopamine, anandamide and endorphin phenylethylamine, all of which are considered ‘bliss molecules’.
Cacao also contains tryptophan, an amino acid that increases the production of serotonin, a brain chemical associated with happiness and positivity. Cacao also contains neurotransmitters that remain in the bloodstream longer, creating a natural antidepressant, while caffeine and theobromine increase energy levels.
Chocolate in its natural form can be a powerful medicine. Have you had a cacao ceremony experience?

What is WWOOF?
WWOOF is an acronym for World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms.
It’s a program that exchanges volunteer work in permaculture, organic farming, culture, and life skills.
This program provides volunteers with the opportunity to live, work, and play on a variety of organic, permaculture, sustainable living properties around the world including Thailand.
As part of the WWOOF program, volunteers also known as WWOOFers, help out on the project 4-5 hours per day, and in return, hosts provide them with food and accommodations.
Volunteer opportunities are available through WWOOF organizations, which pair volunteers with organic permaculture farms, projects, or smallholdings looking for help.
Thailand's traditions, culture, and people provide you with a chance to experience a different way of life while giving back to the community.
As a guest, you are expected to assist your host with a variety of daily activities as well as participate in them as much as possible.
A full day's food and accommodation are exchanged for 4-5 hours of help in most countries including Thailand.
Many tasks may be assigned to you, including sowing seeds, composting, gardening, tree and vegetable planting, cutting wood, weeding, harvesting, packing, milking, feeding, fencing, mud-brick making, wine making, cheese making and bread making, planting rice and much more.
In many cases, volunteers say they like giving back to the country in which they are traveling.

13 FREE and Organic Nitrogen Sources for Your Garden
13 FREE and Organic Nitrogen Sources for Your Garden
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/free-organic-nitrogen-sources-garden/
In this video we will reveal the top 13 free and organic nitrogen sources for your garden.
Nitrogen is Essential for Healthy Plants
Nitrogen is a chemical element that at 78% is the most abundant in the Earth's atmosphere. It is a gas at room temperature and has no colour or smell.
Nitrogen is an essential nutrient for all plants, so it can be found in every type of plant tissue.
Nitrogen helps plants grow by making proteins, enzymes, and chlorophyll. Plants can get nitrogen from soil but also from the air through a process called nitrogen fixation.
Nitrogen fixation happens when bacteria convert nitrogen from the air into ammonia, which plants can use to grow and make protein.
This nitrification process happens naturally in soil but the process can be speeded up by animals or humans with fertilizer and composting.
1. Composted Plant Material
The first source of nitrogen on our list is from compost. Compost is a great source of nitrogen for your garden because it's loaded with decomposing organic matter, which releases nitrogen as it breaks down.
This means that you'll be able to get a lot of use out of the compost that you make, since it will continue to provide nutrients to your plants as they grow and as they decompose.
2. Urine
Human urine can be used as a fertilizer on plants. Urine is a good source of nitrogen and phosphorus, which the plant needs to grow. Urine is best used when aged or diluted 10/1 with water and applied around fruit trees.
3. Bones
Bones are a good source of phosphorus, calcium, and magnesium. You may want to grind them up before applying to your garden!
4. Cow or Horse Manure
The forth source of nitrogen on our list is cow and horse manure. Rudiments manure are another great source of nitrogen for your garden because they're made up primarily of decomposed animal waste, which contains both nitrogen and other nutrients like phosphorus, potassium, and calcium.
5. Dog Urine
Dog urine can be harmful to plants in the garden if your canine pees in the same place time and time again. But in small amounts here and there, it is actually beneficial as it’s a concentrated nitrogen source.
6. Coffee Grounds
Coffee grounds add nitrogen to compost and can deter slugs and snails away from plants. But be mindful coffee grounds are also acidic, and may will harm some plants.
7. Milk
Milk has been used as a fertiliser in the garden for generations but it is 100 times more expensive than nitrogen from manure. So using milk makes no real sense unless you were going to throw it out.
8. Blood Meal
Blood meal makes a great fertilizer. It’s made up of dried, ground-up animal blood. It's high in nitrogen and a good source of iron and other micronutrients.
9. Fish Emulsion
Fish emulsion is a potent, organic fertilizer. It breaks down quickly, without leaving behind any harmful residues. It also contains essential nutrients for plants and soil microbes, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
10. Chicken Manure
The next source of nitrogen on our list is poultry manure. This type of manure contains both nitrogen and phosphorus, and it's something you can easily acquire just by keeping chickens, ducks or geese in your backyard.
11. Feathers
Feathers are a valuable resource for your garden. But not all feathers are created equal. Some are better than others like turkey and chicken, which break down faster and fertilise plants.
12. Grass Clippings
Fresh grass clippings make for a good mulch and a slow release nitrogen fertiliser.
In addition to doing all the things other biodegradable mulches do fresh grass clippings contain so much nitrogen and potassium that it also serves as an excellent natural fertiliser.
13. Legumes
Legumes have been shown to have many health benefits such as lowering cholesterol levels, reducing the risk of heart disease, aiding digestion, and more.
In addition to these health benefits, the plants also provide nitrogen-fixing properties which can help improve soil quality.

The Complete Guide to Food Forest Gardens and How They are Revolutionising the Way We Think About Farming
The food forest is an intentional and carefully planned garden that mimics the natural forest.
It is a sustainable, organic, and eco-friendly way to grow nutrient dense food.
This presentation will give you all the impetus you need to start your own food forest garden.
You will learn about all of the different layers and types of plants that make up a food forest garden.
You will also learn about how to maintain it year-round so that it can thrive in all climates and conditions.
What is a Food Forest Garden?
A food forest garden mimics a woodland ecosystem.
It can be thought of as a forest in miniature.
The plants are arranged to mimic the layers found in a natural forest, with taller trees at the top, shorter trees and shrubs in the middle while the bottom layer consists of root crops and ground covers.
There are 9 layers of a permaculture food forest garden:
1. Canopy. The Tall Tree Layer.
2. Sub-Canopy. The Large Shrub Layer.
3. Shrub Layer.
4. Herbaceous Layer.
5. Groundcover and Creeper Layer.
6. Underground Layer.
7. Vertical and Climber Layer.
8. Aquatic or Wetland Layer.
9. Mycelial or Fungal Layer.
The idea is that this will provide more habitat for wildlife and produce more food with less space than a conventional vegetable garden.
Permies work with nature, not against it. There is no use of herbicides, pesticides or insecticides in an edible food forest garden.
What are you growing in your food forest garden?

What are the 12 Permaculture Design Principles #permaculturelife
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/12-permaculture-design-principles/
Permaculture: Principles & Pathways Beyond Sustainability by David Holmgren: https://amzn.to/3AUcPon
Permaculture is a design system that provides 12 guidelines or principles for sustainable living.
It has been around since the 1970s and it was designed by Bill Mollison and David Holmgren.
The idea behind permaculture is to make our lives more sustainable by using natural resources in a way that doesn’t deplete them.
Permaculture principles are based on the idea of sustainability, which is the ability to provide for human needs without damaging or depleting natural resources.
Permaculture applies natural systems, rather than human-made ones, to create a sustainable food production system. These permaculture principles are applied by using trees, shrubs, plants and animals.
1. Observe, Orient, Decide and Act
2. Catch and Store Energy
3. Obtain a Yield
4. Apply Self-regulation and Accept Feedback
5. Produce No Waste
6. Use and Value Renewable Resources and Services
7. Design from Patterns to Details
8. Integrate Rather than Segregate
9. Use Small and Slow Solutions
10. Foster Diversity
11. Use Edges and Value the Marginal
12. Creatively Use and Respond to Change

The 9 Layers of a Permaculture Food Forest #permaculture
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/9-layers-of-a-permaculture-food-forest/
In this presentation, we will explore the 9 layers of a permaculture food forest, what each layer does, and how they all work together to create an efficient system for growing and harvesting an abundance of food.
Systems thinking is an approach to understanding the world by looking at how everything is connected.
A permaculture food forest is a type of food forest that mimics the structure and function of a natural forest.
It is designed to produce a diversity of edible and medicinal plants from which the human population can harvest their food.
The nine layers in a permaculture food forest are:
1. Canopy
2. Sub-canopy
3. Shrubs/Small Trees
4. Herbaceous Layer
5. Ground Cover/Creeper Layer
6. Underground Layer
7. Vertical/Climber Layer
8. Aquatic/Wetland Layer
9. Mycelial/Fungal Layer

The Complete Guide to Growing Lemon Trees and How to Get Fruit in 2-3 Years #lemontree
The Complete Guide to Growing Lemon Trees and How to Get Fruit in 2-3 Years #lemontree
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/home-garden/growing-lemon-trees/
What is a Lemon Tree and How Does it Grow?
If you are thinking of growing lemon trees you have more than a dozen varieties to choose from including the popular Meyer, Eureka, and Lisbon Lemon.
A lemon tree is a citrus fruit that grows in warm climates.
The lemon tree has been grown for centuries and it has been used for many purposes, such as cooking, cleaning, and even medicine.
A lemon tree can grow up too 10m tall but are best when pruned so that that harvesting lemons are in easy reach. It has glossy, green leaves that are about 10-15cm long and 1-2cm wide. They have an acidic smell to them when they are crushed and can also be used for their scent.
Lemon trees have white flowers that can be a little sticky to the touch because of their high levels of nectar and oils. The flowers hang from stems in dense clusters at the end of branches, and these clusters form fragrant yellow-green fruit.

Startling Decline of Nutritious Food and What You Can Do about It!
Startling Decline of Nutritious Food and What You Can Do about It.
https://thinglishlifestyle.com/thinglish-lifestyle/food-drink/nutritious-food-the-startling-decline/
The world is facing an obesity epidemic, and it's only getting worse. In the United States, for example, more than one-third of adults are obese.
This has been attributed too many factors: fast food, snacks in between meals, and sedentary lifestyles.
But there's another problem that needs to be addressed: the slow death of nutritious food.
The decline of nutritious food is a result of several factors.
One is the rise in processed foods which don't include any nutritional value but instead contain harmful ingredients like high fructose corn syrup and trans fats.
Another is that people are eating out more often than ever before and so they're not cooking at home where they can control what goes into their meals.
Yet another factor is that people are living in urban areas where it's difficult to grow food and it's expensive to buy quality, fresh produce from stores.
What is the Problem with Modern Food?
Modern food is a problem because it is unhealthy and unsustainable.
The modern food industry has been a problem in many ways.
First, it is not sustainable because of the amount of resources needed to produce the food.
Second, much of the food that we eat today can be classified as unhealthy in some way.
Third, many of the foods that we eat today are processed, thus creating many health problems.
Fourthly, much of the industrialised food industry is controlled by a handful of corporations.
The modern food industry creates a problem in terms of sustainability because it takes up a lot of resources to produce food.
For example, corn is grown on farms across America that use more than one million gallons of water per acre per year and soybeans require more than three million gallons of water per year.
The size of the human population is growing rapidly, and this growth creates a concerns to sustain the centralised food production monopoly.
A study by the United Nations showed that global food production would need to increase by 70% in order to meet demand by 2030.
Unfortunately, they fail to mention permaculture as a solution to the problems caused by big ag!
The Negative Impact of Anti-Nutrients in our Food on Health
If you poured benzine into a Ferrari, would you expect it to perform to its ultimate capabilities? Well no, and it’s the same with the human body. Garbage in, garbage out.
You are never going to reach your peak performance capabilities with a nutritional deficient diet.
The negative impact of anti-nutrients in our food on health is not a new topic. It has been the subject of various studies and research for decades.
Studies have also shown that these substances can cause numerous adverse effects on human health, including inflammation, weight gain, and even cancer.
These substances are found in all kinds of foods, from bread to vegetables to beans to nuts.
So it’s important for us to know what they are and how we can avoid them if we want to maintain a healthy diet that will keep us feeling good throughout the day.
Anti-nutrients range from simple compounds such as phytic acid which is found in whole grains and beans, to complex compounds such as lectins which are found in many plants, including nightshade vegetables.
As a result of the phytic acid in whole grains and beans, they have a high level of calcium oxalate crystals that can cause kidney stones.
In addition, phytic acid binds to minerals such as calcium and magnesium so they are not absorbed by the body.
10 Simple Steps To Improve Your Diet!
We are going to go through the process of improving your diet from scratch.
This is for anyone who wants to improve their diet but doesn't know where to start.
