Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It will guide you to the hypnagogic state, which is essentially a state of consciousness somewhere between wakefulness and sleeping. It's suitable for everyone, even complete beginners!
Yoga Nidra takes us into a wonderful state of rest, where we can remain effortless and at peace. In this state we become more open and receptive to healing, restoration and are able to access the deeper layers of our inner self.
Due to its deeply relaxing nature, Yoga Nidra is excellent for people who find it difficult to go to sleep, as it not only relaxes the physical self but also calms the internal chatter of the mind. It's said that one hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep!
Yoga nidra can be practiced for a variety of reasons, including stress relief, improved sleep, and increased self-awareness. It can also be helpful for people with anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions.

Box Breathing Technique for Stress & Anxiety (Square breathing)
Also known as square breathing, this technique helps slow down your breath and works by distracting your mind as you count the breaths in and out. Metta (Loving Kindness) meditation
Metta, also known as loving-kindness, is the practice of cultivating feelings of love, compassion, and kindness towards oneself and others. This meditation will guide you through a series of steps to help you connect with these feelings and cultivate them within yourself.
We’ll start by directing some loving kindness towards ourselves. As Buddha said ‘unless we treat ourselves with love and compassion, we cannot reflect the same on others.’ Once we start experiencing self-love and self-compassion for ourselves, we can show the same to others too.
Studies have shown that a regular practice of loving kindness (Metta) brings about self-compassion, increased focus and attention, and a deep sense of emotional strength that balance our thoughts and actions. It increases well-being by soothing your mind, by cultivating positive emotions such as happiness, appreciation, satisfaction, and ultimately acceptance.
There are many benefits to practicing Metta:

- Uplifts the spirit
- Raises positive vibrations and emotions

Gratitude is a practise that’s been done for thousands of years by many different people, including yogis, Buddhist monks, and native American elders.
Research has shown that practising a gratitude meditation can bring almost-immediate benefits that lead to increased levels of well-being and happiness. Practising regularly can have incredible benefits such as decreased levels of depression, higher levels of well-being, it improves our relationships, allows us to trust others more, even increases our sleep quality.
Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed with either a comfortable chair to sit in, bed or mat to lie on. Make sure you are warm enough as the body will cool down quickly as it relaxes.
