No Age Ontology Introduction
No Age Ontology is a compendium of ancient spiritual, ontological Wisdom teachings which aim to guide the individual towards total Liberation from the bondage of time. No Age Ontology rejects the notion of a fixed, essential nature of phenomena and living beings based on permanent identities and recognizes that an entity’s identity is shaped by a complex interplay of factors, including cultural and social context, individual experience and habitual tendencies which are ever changing and impermanent. No Age Ontology encourages us to rethink all our assumptions about time and to recognize that the diversity and complexity of human perception and experience is nothing but an illusion.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - How to find peaceful poise and master emotional storms
The Principle of Polarity in relation to consciousness, states that contrasting and opposing feelings and emotions are in reality opposite poles of the same thing, pure energy manifestation, and that the Principle of Rhythm is always in operation. Now we will learn that by changing the polarity of any given emotion or by rising above it in the free and Timeless state of Pure Being we can work and eventually master the Principle of Polarity and Rhythm.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - Samsara, time and space have a beginnings and ends
Time and space are relative concepts as there is no such thing as time to be found somewhere in space, only a personal relative experience of it. Creation is timeless but the personal experience of a portion of creation is in time and space. Just like the objects reflected on a mirror’s surface do not appear in space and time but are contained evenly on its surface, all of Mind’s potentiality of manifestations are in their true nature completely beyond the measure of time and space but appear as they do in the Timeless Expanse of the pure ‘Now’ of Mind as illusory events within space and time. Enlightened experience of Reality is beyond time and space but has free and spontaneous access to what is manifested in time and space, transcendent and immanent at the same time.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - The effect of compensation or counterbalance
Since Rhythm compensates we can observe that the measure of a short swing in one direction, is compensated or counterbalanced by short swing in the opposite direction, while a long one invariably means a long swing in the opposite direction. Everything, in fact, is set off and offset by other things; there is always a check and a countercheck in every manifestation, on every plane of existence. For example, the regular and uniform movement of the planets around the sun is made possible only through the operation of the counterbalancing forces of centrifugal and centripetal gravity, the former manifesting in the tendency of the planet to fly from the central point, and the latter manifesting in the tendency of the planet to move toward the central point, the sun.

The Principle of Cyclicity: ‘Samsara’, perpetual wander and rebirth
The word ‘Samsara’, literally meaning ‘continuous flow’ or
‘perpetual wander’, is the repeating cycle of birth, life, death and
rebirth found, although expressed in different ways, within
Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Tibetan Bön, Jainism, and to some
extent in Sikhism.
The followers of the Kabala also believe in the reincarnation of
souls (Gilgul), and in ancient Greece, Orphism, Pythagoras, Plato
and Socrates spoke about the ‘metempsychosis’ or the
transmigration of souls. Early Christians believed in the
transmigration of souls before the second council of
Constantinople in A.D. 553, declared it a heresy.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - The Principle of Polarity (or Opposites)
“Everything is dual, everything has poles, everything has its pair of opposites; like and unlike are the same, opposites are identical in nature, but different in degree; extremes meet; all truths are but half-truths; all paradoxes may be reconciled.” The Kybalion
The Principle of Polarity or Law of Opposites states that the play of Reality manifests always two sides, or two poles and the difference between these two seemingly diametrically opposed poles is merely a matter of degree. This principle implies that thesis and anti-thesis are identical in nature, but different in degree, that every truth is half-false and everything ‘is and isn't’, at the same time.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - The three worlds or planes of existence in Buddhism
Buddhist cosmology shares many similarities with Hindu cosmology in terms of cycles of time and type of beings inhabiting the planes of existence, although the names and details can vary in each tradition. Buddhist cosmology can be divided into three related branches: spatial cosmology, which describes the arrangement of the various dimensions in a vertical pattern and is related to the beings inhabiting a specific universe; horizontal cosmology which describes how these different dimensions are grouped in the universe, and temporal cosmology, which describes how the various universes come into existence, remain and how they pass away. In spatial cosmology we find an explanation of three planes of existence in ascending orders which are the dimensions of different types of beings according to the Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Vibration.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - The three great dimensions of existence
The Hermetic tradition speaks of three different planes or dimensions of Reality:
I. The great physical planes.
II. The great mental planes.
III. The great spiritual planes.
Each of these planes is divided into seven sub divisions according to their rates of vibration and the Law of Cause and Effect. The Hermetic teachings regards matter as a form of energy, that is, energy at a low rate of vibration of a certain kind, therefore the seven physical planes include three planes of physical matter and three of energy which ranges from the physical energy (heat, light, magnetism, electricity, and gravity or attraction) to the more spiritual energy used by spiritually developed beings and which may be considered ‘divine or miraculous power’.

The Seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - The ‘Mind Only’ in the Buddhist tradition
In the Mahayana Buddhist tradition we find a particular school of thought called ‘Mind Only’ (Chittamatra) or ‘The Doctrine of Consciousness’ (Vijnanavada). The ‘Mind Only’ tenet system asserts that there are no such things as external phenomena. Mind, as a non dual-self aware consciousness, is an absolute Reality. It is founded upon the Buddha’s statement that "All three worlds are Mind only" and it is expressed mainly in Buddhist scriptures like the ‘Lankavatara’ and ‘Dasabhumika’ Sutra.

No Age Ontology- The seven Hermetic Principles of Reality - Principle of Mind part 1
The seven Hermetic Laws or Principles which govern Reality are:
I. The Principle of Mind (All is Mind)
II. The Principle of Cause and Effect
III. The Principle of Vibration or Sound
IV. The Principle of Correspondence
V. The Principle of Polarity or Opposites
VI. The Principle of Rhythm or Cyclicity
VII. The Principle of Gender
The first Principle of Mind could be said to represent ‘the Absolute’ aspect of Reality transcendent and immanent at the same time. The other six principles represent the way in which this Mind Principle manifests as ‘the relative’, although in actual fact both the absolute and the relative are indivisible as non-dual Reality itself.

No Age Ontology - The Buddhist Heavenly dimension of Total Bliss
Buddhist cosmology of the realms of existence of sentient beings shares many similarities with Hindu cosmology in terms of cycles of time and type of beings inhabiting those planes of existence, although the names and details can vary in each tradition. In spatial cosmology we find an explanation of three planes of existence in ascending order which comprise the dimensions of different types of living beings according to the Law of Cause and Effect and the Law of Vibration. What causes a specific dimension and Universe to manifest is the collective karma, or the sum of all habitual tendencies, disturbing emotions and actions related to the mind-consciousness of those living beings. In the Buddhist tradition the Buddha taught of the possibility to be born in a ‘Pure Land’ or a ‘Pure Dimension’, a kind of heavenly realm, where one can follow a spiritual path until total Awakening without experiencing any coarse suffering and without being reborn again within conditioned existence due to karma, causes and conditions.

No Age Ontology - Being helped is not being saved
From an Awakened view of Reality nobody is ever saved because Reality is timelessly free and unborn, there is nobody to be freed from anything and nobody to act as a giver of freedom; everything is the Ground of Timeless Pure Being and therefore a Timeless unborn freedom. From the relative perspective of sentient beings’ limited perception, because of the Law of Cause and Effect and interdependence, all beings, whether Awakened or trapped within illusory time, are interdependently connected within Timeless Pure Being and therefore one can receive help from Timeless Awakening and one can also give help to others once one has also Awakened to Timeless Pure Being. However, nobody can actively ‘save’ others from their perception of conditioned existence and rebirth, because Awakening is a completely individual experience.

No Age Ontology - Liberation from birth
All Wisdom teachings aim to reach Liberation from birth, impermanence, decay and death therefore also one’s aim should be directed at attaining Liberation from ‘compulsive’ or ‘cause driven’ birth. This doesn’t mean that once one has awakened to Timelessness one cannot be born if it is needed in order help others realize the same state of total freedom. Since one has reached Timeless Liberation for oneself, one has full access to enter time and space due to the inherent Compassion of the State of Timeless Being.

No Age Ontology - Manifestation without interruption
The Principle of Rhythm and Cyclicity reveals that everything in the physical, mental and spiritual plane of existence within time expresses itself in rhythm from action to reaction, from activity to inactivity with a ‘to and from’ movement, an inflow and an outflow, a swing forward and backward, an advance and a retreat, a rising and a sinking, a giving and a receiving. The very essence of the Play of Reality itself is an eternal spontaneous outpouring and an in-drawing of energy and manifestation appearing and dissolving without interruption and ‘ad infinitum’. This rhythmic motion is not necessarily always in a straight line; in fact it is usually in cycles. Cyclicity is only a more complex form of rhythm and is dependent on it. Ultimately, after fully Awakening to the Pure Ground of Timeless Enlightenment, the Principle of Rhythm is expressed in the activities of a fully Awakened One, emanating for the benefit of sentient beings (without ever leaving the Knowledge of the Timeless Ground of Being) and returning back to the Ground source of Pure Being of mere potentiality in a ceaseless play of dissolution and expansion beyond divisive dualities.

No Age Ontology - The unpredictability of rebirth
Another important implication of rebirth is its unpredictability. According to some spiritual teachings one follows a kind of evolutionary process from the most rudimentary to most advanced type of consciousness to finally Awaken to an Enlightened State. But actually rebirth might not be such a linear and straightforward kind of evolutionary process from lower to higher. For example, the Buddhist teachings make very clear that a human birth is an extremely rare event which is brought about by many different causes and conditions propelled by the subtle energy of virtuous habitual tendencies ‘stored’ in the ‘ground consciousness’. It all depends on many factors like the quality of the emotions experienced at the time of death, the strength of emotional tendencies accumulated during infinite past lives, but especially the last life, the actions that have actually been committed and above all the intentions behind each action.

No Age Ontology - Memory of infinite past lives
It is quite common to question the reality of past lives when one has no memories of such events. But, actually, remembering a past life is just as difficult as remembering the details of each dream during one’s night-life. Upon awakening in the morning the memories of the dream content is quickly lost unless one has developed a deep clarity by practicing meditation or sleep yoga. Moreover, what is really passed on from lifetime to lifetime is not the memory of experiences and events which are illusory and dream-like, but rather, the habitual tendencies fuelled by the energy related to the five disturbing emotions.

No Age Ontology - The danger of communicating with spirits and other classes of beings
There is an infinite variety of sentient beings in the Universe, few are visible to human perception but most are invisible to human senses. Some beings, although invisible to the human perception, can see humans, some can read humans minds, and some can even influence one’s emotional reactivity according to the interdependence causes and conditions and the Law of Vibration. It all depends on one’s own mental and emotional atmosphere, personal authenticity and mind’s stability. Moreover, by trying to contact the spirit of loved ones which have passed away one might open the door to some unfriendly sentient being which is capable of reading one’s thoughts and answer one’ s questions with ambiguous intentions. Asking for help to spirits, ghosts or other classes of sentient beings is very dangerous, even though some little help might be obtained, one is creating a connection of ‘spiritual debt’ through the Law of Cause and Effect which can last many lifetimes.

No Age Ontology - Rebirth is the start of a new self-grasping perception
After a short or long period of non-perception following the death of the body-mind aggregate, if one has not recognized and gained Liberation within Timeless Awareness of Pure Being, a mind related new self-grasping perception arises out of the Timeless Ground of Pure Being. Since time is not a fixed parameter, especially in the intermediate state between births as a sentient being, there is no guarantee regarding the ‘date of rebirth’. This new perception could either be a sort continuation of the old past perception in a new body-mind aggregate or a completely new perception in a mind-body aggregate of a different class of sentient beings in a different epoch of time depending on infinite causes and conditions manifesting to the illusory perceiving consciousness in the intermediate state not yet entered into new physical body-mind perception.

No Age Ontology - Death is the great reset of individual perception
Everything which flows within conditioned existence is timelessly a rhythm of illusory beginnings and ends manifesting eternally. The problem is that we don’t recognize the Timeless side of Reality and ‘we are stuck’ within the perception of impermanent appearances within time, completely missing the unborn nature of Reality. According to the Wisdom teachings after we die everything about our sense of identity, everything we hold on as our personality, everything which relates to our existence in time and space dissolves back into the Timeless Ground of Pure Being. At this stage of Reality we exist as a Pure Timeless Potentiality, an open space-like Expanse of Pure Being without any dualistic division of one or many, singular or plural.

No Age Ontology - The joy of Timelessness experienced within the suffering of existence
We have discovered how existence conditioned by self-grasping, time and space always contains an element of dissatisfaction, frustration, anxiety and suffering and only total Liberation within the realization of Timeless Awareness of Pure Being is the real state of freedom from suffering. However, even the two truths of suffering and Timeless joy are not mutually exclusive because within the recognition of Timelessness all appearances are viewed and experienced as ‘non-existing illusions’ and in that recognition lies the supreme joy that doesn’t need to ‘cancel out’ the appearing aspect of conditioned existence within time and space.

No Age Ontology - The behaviour of Awareness of Pure Being
The stable recognition of one’s natural Awareness of Pure Being is beyond grasping at the identity of subject, object and action and therefore ‘actionless actions’ manifest according to the circumstances which present themselves in one’s field of perception. This is not the normal action-reaction that we are normally accustomed to in general but a fresh non-reactive behaviour which brings light, clarity and awareness to the whole event within time and space.

No Age Ontology - Awakened personalities
Awakening to one’s Timeless nature of Pure Being doesn’t require a rejection of one’s individual relative personality while one is still in a body-mind aggregate form among other beings. The personality is not something fixed, is simply a continuum of traits and preferences which are ever changing and which are produced by causes and conditions. One should always try to act according to circumstances, doing one’s best to alleviate suffering and develop a positive attitude and sometime this requires mind trainings and meditation. Awakening to Timelessness doesn’t equate with annihilation into the oblivion of nothingness.

No Age Ontology - The usefulness of Simply Being
It is very common in a society built on the value of ‘doing and achieving’ to fall and be trapped by the feelings of worthlessness and uselessness which bring depression and sadness. On a relative level one could overcome these feelings using any skilful methods related to modern psychotherapy or any spiritual mind training in order to inspire oneself with feelings of confidence and independence. However one should also reflect and ponder on the worthiness of ‘Simply Being’ even if one is not able to recognize the Timeless Mind of Pure Being directly as a personal experience yet.

No Age Ontology - Overcoming obstacles through the knowledge of Timelessness
The best and foremost way to overcome any obstacle is to recognize the Timeless aspect of the Mind of Pure Being within its self-expressing and self-experiencing phenomena. Within this self-recognition all phenomena are experienced as an ornament or a display of its own energy manifestation as a ‘Timeless’ event.

No Age Ontology - Faith and confidence in one’s own Timeless Nature
In the teachings of the various Wisdom traditions, the attitude of being confident in oneself doesn’t mean boosting one’s self-grasping personality in order to conquer and achieve. On the contrary, being confident in one’s own Timeless unborn nature of Pure Being in due time gives one the confidence to face the infinite variables of conditioned existence and its related suffering with a ‘forbearing and forgiving’ attitude.

No Age Ontology - Mind and the environment is a non-dual perception
Outer and inner perceptions are interdependently related through causes and conditions and, ultimately, to the Timeless Mind of Pure Being as their essence. Mind and its self-appearing phenomena ultimately are a non-duality. Moreover, the outer elements and the outer environment are only the ‘mirror image’ of one’s own disturbing emotions. On a collective scale, if we want to protect the environment from all the current threats we should aim at changing our inner disturbing emotions which are the underlining primary causes instead of struggling endlessly with an outer effect which is simply interdependent to its source which is the mind.
