Sewing Dave's Blanket

One of my favorite memories as a teenager was when my mentor, Dave (the ol' Cherokee), used to knit while watching movies and drinking bourbon with me and Jordan. It relaxed him and made for some great conversation.

At the end of Dave's life, I had spent a month with him in Hospice. He had taken a throw blanket with him from home, and I ended up sleeping under that blanket every night while we were there. After he died, his widow, Judy, told me the blanket was mine and that I could take it home with me, which I did. Not a day has gone by that I haven't used it since I inherited it.

Tonight, I sewed up some holes in that throw blanket, while watching scary movies and drinking bourbon. It was very calming, especially with the door open and the rain falling outside. (The rain you'll hear in the video is not coming from the tv.)

Of course it made me think of my old mentor and miss him. I was practically channeling him.

Enjoy!
