Psalm 46 Power & Love V

Scofield Bible refers to Is 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations,
and shall rebuke many people:
and they shall beat their swords into plowshares,
and their spears into pruninghooks:
nation shall not lift up sword against nation,
neither shall they learn war anymore.

Works of the Lord = wars cease, bows break, spears shatter, chariots burned with fire
Those who engaged in these actions would not want them to cease, break, shatter, burned. It would be a desolation to them and to the people of God as the ‘cleanup’ was going on.

V10 10 “Be still, and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth!”
During these intense moments, be still, keep eyes on the Lord, remember His mighty acts of the past. He is above the nations, he is above the earth. Whether it is politics kingdom of man, or natural calamites kingdom of nature, principalities of the evil one spiritual realm the Lord is above them all.

V11 11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.[c]Selah
Emmanuel, God is with us, God of Jacob (past, present, future).

LORD= YHWH= Yahweh personal name, so holy Adonai used instead in spoken Hebrew and written texts. Appears more than 6000 times in the OT. Aspect of God that calls man into existence Gen 2, covenant relationship
Lord = Adonai= proper name of God

Elohim= Supreme Deity all powerful, calls the cosmos into being Gen 1

God is both Power & Love, Lion & Lamb

God is both/and wholeness to the Divine, doesn’t make sense in our human minds, God is so perfect and whole well captured in this passage.

IV. Practical Application
-Journal on personal journey with the Lord. See His demonstrated refuge and strength in your life. Cfv2 do not rely on memory that fades fast
- A reflection on the operation of the Holy Spirit, River of Life
- We can trust that God will give retribution to the evil doers. They will bow before Him (breaks bow)
- Record voice memo on the phone. Act of recording, handwritten, typed or recording. Makes a difference in recall, look back and remember. The act of recording has a power to it.
