24-Year-Old Launches Car Into Homeless Camp, Killing 4 and Injuring Multiple

Salem police have arrested 24-year-old Enrique Rodriguez, Jr., the driver who crashed into a homeless camp early Sunday morning, killing four people and injuring two others.

Rodriguez was booked at Marion County Jail and is facing 14 criminal charges, including four counts of first-degree manslaughter and six counts of reckless endangerment.

Police responded to the scene of the crash near Front and Division Streets Northeast at about 2 a.m. Sunday morning. Police said two people living at the camp died at the scene. Four other people living at the homeless camp were transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, two of whom later died, police said.
