Spring Run Steelhead Battle

Fishing for Steelhead in the Spring can be a short window of opportunity in some creeks and rivers of South Western Ontario. Some years, most of the Steelhead have already headed back to the lake by the time the season opens up, depending on weather, temps and water levels/temps. If the Steelhead stick around for trout opener, they can hit lures such as spoons and spinners( like this one did) aggressively and put on a good fight.

Make sure to check the regulations for tributaries you are unfamiliar with, before you decide to fish them, so you don't fish in a zone off limits, fish in a zone where there are artificial baits and lures or single barbless hook regulations.
