Legendary Lee Canady: Isaac Hayes rapped for an entire car ride!

I have a story for everything, and I have to hold back always, and I really, really, really am here:

A few years ago, I sampled Isaac Hayes' music for a few months and was noticed by Isaac Hayes III (his son) as well as the daughters of Jackie Wilson and James Brown. That same year, a Samuel L. Jackson-starring remake of Isaac Hayes' film, "Shaft" (for which Hayes won a Grammy for his original score [partly recorded at Motown {the brass or woodwinds I believe}]), was being made. I saw "Shaft" billboards up and down Gratiot Avenue in downtown Detroit, where I spent six out of seven days a week at the time.

I say all that (and I held back a lot, believe it or not) to say: after listening to an inordinate amount of Isaac Hayes' early recordings (my favorite era of his work by miles), I agree with Mr. Canady. Hayes' rapping goes on and on! You know, that is one thing I find almost the most abhorrent in a man—when they just go on and on and on and on and on, wasting their time and yours. The nerve…
