Bankstown - September 12th, 2021

A few days earlier in Bankstown, a young man had a heart attack while being arrested by police for not wearing a mask. At time of writing, he is apparently still in a coma. Some locals said that this was a 'red line' that had been crossed and vowed to rally on Sunday. I thought I should go along and try to be a Christian presence.

My hope was to make contact with the family, whom I believe are Lebanese Muslim people. I thought a show of solidarity and support from the Christian community was badly needed.

The police stopped us before we reached the venue and told us that the family was no longer there. I asked the police if they would say a prayer with us - for the young man and for community unity. Unfortunately, they refused.
