If the fetus is occurring in a mother suffering from uterine malformation, this uterus has an imbalance tissue ratio between connective tissues and smooth muscle tissues. There is more of the former than the latter, which is the opposite of a healthy uterus. This means there will be fewer networks of blood vessels and capillaries to deliver optimum nutrients and oxygen to the developing embryo. For less severe forms of uterine malformation, it may cause deformities or abnormalities in the fetus. For severe ones, it will lead to pregnancy loss.
