Listen to the Charter read aloud. Clear reading of the text accompanied by panoramic visuals of our great country. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms (La Charte canadienne des droits et libertés) is Canada’s bill of rights entrenched in the Constitution of Canada. The Charter guarantees important rights to Canadians.

The Charter guarantees “fundamental freedoms” - freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and of other media of communication, freedom of peaceful assembly and freedom of association.

It also protects the mobility rights of Canadian citizens which include the right to enter, remain in, and leave Canada. Citizens and Permanent Residents have the ability to move to and take up residence in any province to pursue gaining livelihood.

Section 15 guarantees “equal treatment before and under the law, and equal protection and benefit of the law without discrimination.”

What are your rights as a Canadian?
"Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.
Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:

(a) freedom of conscience and religion;

(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and

(d) freedom of association...."
